Harshada Garud is a weightlifter from Maharashtra, India. Winning a gold in 2022 Junior World Weightlifting Championships, she became the first Indian to win a gold medal in International Weightlifting Federation's World Juniors Weightlifting Championships.

Biography

Harshada Garud is born on 8 November 2003, at Vadgaon Maval near Pune, Maharashtra. [1] [2] Harshada's father Sharad Garud, is also a weightlifter, who had won weightlifting silver at state school games. [3] She is studying B.A. at Savitribai Phule Pune University. [4]

Weightlifting career

In 2022, Harshada Garud won gold medal in the World junior weightlifting championships held at Heraklion, Greece. [5] She is the first Indian to win a gold medal in World Juniors Weightlifting Championships. [5] She had also won U-17 girls weightlifting gold medal at the 2020 Khelo India Youth Games and bronze medal at the 2020 Asian junior championships in Tashkent. [6] She also won third rank in 45 kg junior woman category, in IWLF Youth, Junior & Senior National Weightlifting Championships 2021-22 held at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. [2]

Talha Talib is a Pakistani weightlifter from Gujranwala. He is the Pakistani national champion in the 62 kg category. He set a new record at the games in snatch as he lifted 132 kg in the third attempt with 127 kg and 130 kg in the first two attempts, respectively. He was also a gold medalist at the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Weightlifting Championships in Penang. He lifted 258 kg to clinch the gold. He is currently the top No. 1 ranked weightlifter of Pakistan.

Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt is a gold medalist weightlifter from Gujranwala, Pakistan. He won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Jeremy Lalrinnunga is an Indian weightlifter from Aizawl, Mizoram. He represented India in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires. He won the gold medal in the Boys' 62 kg category weightlifting with a lift of 274 kg. It was India's first gold medal in the Youth Olympic Games. Jeremy won silver medal in Asian weightlifting championship. At the 2019 World Weightlifting Championships, Lalrinnunga finished at 21st rank at the Men's 67 kg event. He won gold in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, in the 67 kg category, with a game record lift of 140 kg in snatch and 160 kg in clean and jerk.

Dilara Narin is a Turkish weightlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 81 kg event at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games held in Konya, Turkey. She won the bronze medal in the women's 81 kg event at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships held in Tirana, Albania.
