Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque (Malay : Masjid Hassanal Bolkiah) is a mosque in Mentiri, a settlement area in Brunei-Muara District of Brunei.
The construction of the mosque began on 2 May 2017 with the foundation laying ceremony held three days later. [1] [2] It was built by the command of Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, to replace the previous mosque, the Kampong Mentiri National Housing Scheme Mosque, which was destroyed in a fire on the 5th of the previous month. [3] [1] [2] The construction was completed in just 49 days. [1] [2] It was officially opened by the Sultan on 23 June 2017, held after the inaugural Friday prayers at the mosque. [1] [2]
Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni Hassanal Bolkiah is the eldest son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his wife Queen Saleha. The Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge, also commonly known as Sungai Kebun Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge which connects the Pusat Bandar and Mukim Lumapas in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is named after Queen Saleha, the queen consort of the current Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Officially inaugurated on 14 October 2017, it became the country's first cable-stayed bridge, and its tower has since been the tallest structure.
