Hayatabad Sports Complex is a sports academy located in Hayatabad, Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] The sports complex It is owned by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was formally inaugurated after renovation in October 2016. [8]

History & Development

Hayatabad Sports Complex, Peshawar was originally constructed in the early 1990s and had sporting facilities for all major sports. However, in the late 1990s, the sports facility was turned into commercial hub, private party arena, along with a marriage hall. [9] Renovation work was started in June 2013 and completed in October 2016, at a cost of Rs.210 million. [9] It was then formally inaugurated after renovation by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. It currently covers an area of 150 Kanals (5399.56 sq-feet).

Peshawar's Hayatabad Cricket Stadium with a crowd capacity of over 10,000 spectators is all set to host national and international matches in upcoming months. Upgradation of the stadium has completed by National Logistics Cell (NLC) under the supervision of NESPAK and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sport Directorate. The stadium has been completed by the National Logistics Cell (NLC) in two years and cutting-edge facilities have been provided including the main pavilion, general stands, Pakistan's largest digital scoreboard, media boxes for both print and electronic media, firefighting, HVAC systems, security and extra-low voltage (ELV) systems, and other allied amenities etc.

The Qayyum Stadium, also known as Peshawar Sport Complex, is located in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It is the biggest sports complex in Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The sport complex has facilities for all major sports including football, field hockey, squash, wrestling and badminton. The sport complex is owned by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It can accommodate 30,000 spectators and is located within walking distance of Peshawar Saddar and Peshawar Cantonment railway station.

The August 2011 Khyber Agency bombing occurred on 19 August 2011 in Jamrud, Ghundai within the Khyber Agency of FATA, Pakistan. At least 48 people were reported to have died after a suicide bomber exploded his vest at a mosque during Friday prayers in the month of Ramadan when about 300-500 people were praying; at least 40 others were also wounded.

The college offers programs for intermediate level, which is affiliated Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar. Government Girls Degree College is public sector college located on Hayatabad, Peshawar Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Mardan Sports Complex is located in Mardan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The complex has facilities for all major sports such as Cricket, Football, Hockey, Swimming Pool, Basketball, Volleyball, Squash Court, Indoor Female Gymnasium, Climbing Wall and Open Air Gym.

On 1 December 2017, 3–4 gunmen arrived at the hostel of Agricultural Training Institute at Agricultural University Peshawar and started firing as a result of which at least 13 people were killed and 35+ were injured. Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mahmood Khan is a Pakistani politician who was the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 2018 till January 2023 and a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He had been a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from August 2018 till January 2023, when he, as Chief Minister, dissolved the Assembly.

Bagh-e-Naran is a recreational park located in Phase 1, Hayatabad, Peshawar, Pakistan. It is one of the largest gardens in Hayatabad, part of it is zoo. The literal meaning of "Bagh-e-Naran" in local languages is "Garden Valley". It is located close to Tatara Park.
