The Hazara University (HU) is a public university located in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Recognized university

Hazara University is recognized as a higher education institution by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. [2] [1]

Overview

The campus is situated at the crossroads of the ancient civilization of Gandhara and Ashoka and facing the silk route on the outskirts of Mansehra which had been the ancient link between the sub-continent, China and Central Asia. [1]

Haji Abdul Hanan Khan Swati, a prominent landowner in Dhodial, generously contributed land for the establishment of the mental hospital in Mansehra. This hospital was built by the first health minister of Pakistan Khan Khudadad Khan Swati and eventually transformed into Hazara University later.

It forms the northernmost portion of Sindh Sagar Doab, and is mainly populated by the indigenous Hindko-speaking Hindkowans and Kohistani people, with a significant Pashto-speaking population. The inhabitants of Hazara are collectively called the Hazarewal.

Dhodial is an important town and union council located near Baffa between Mansehra and Shinkiari in Mansehra District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Dhodial is a fertile region known for its vegetables and tobacco crop. Dhodial is also well known for its pheasant conservation project. The town was badly affected by the 2005 Pakistan earthquake.

He is member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the constituency PK-37 Mansehra -II. Previously, he was a member of the Provincial Assembly from 2018 to 2022 and served as Advisor to the Chief Minister on Home and Tribal Affairs from October 2022 till January 2023. He belongs to the Jehangiri family within the Swati tribe of Mansehra.

Government Post Graduate College, Abbottabad, also known as GPGC No.1 Abbottabad, is a government tertiary college located in Abbottabad. GPGC No.1 is affiliated with Abbottabad University (AUST) and BISE Abbottabad for Bachelor and intermediate programs respectively.
