HeKz is a British progressive metal band founded in 2005 by frontman and bass player Matt Young.
The band was formed in 2005 when Matt Young was still in middle school. [1] [2] Seven years and after few lineup changes, their first albumTabula Rasa was released in 2012. [3]
Later that year, keyboardist James Messenger joined HeKz as a fifth member, [4] [2] with the band then consisting of Matt Young on bass and vocals, Alastair Beveridge and Tom Smith on guitars, Messenger on keyboards and Kirk Brandham on drums. With this line-up, they released in 2014 their second album Caerus, featuring cellist Audrey Riley. [5] Four years later the band released Invicta in April 2018. [6]
In March 2021, after a lineup change, the frontman Matt Young announced HeKz's fourth album, Terra Nova, a conceptual effort released with the collaboration of guitarist Mark Bogert, keyboardist Pieter Beemsterboer, drummer Moyano el Buffalo and Ukrainian violinist Irina Markevich. The double album, which will be released in November 2023 will also feature guest performances by keyboardist Adam Holzman. [7] [8] [9]
Camel are an English progressive rock band formed in Guildford, Surrey, in 1971. Led by guitarist Andrew Latimer, they have released fourteen studio albums and fourteen singles, plus numerous live albums and DVDs. Without achieving mass popularity, the band gained a cult following in the 1970s with albums such as Mirage (1974) and The Snow Goose (1975). They moved into a jazzier, more commercial direction in the early 1980s, but then went on an extended hiatus. Since 1991 the band has been independent, releasing albums on their own label.
Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) is an American instrumental progressive metal supergroup founded by Mike Portnoy in 1997. The band initially released two albums, between 1998 and 1999. An extension of their second regular album, with the absence of John Petrucci was released in 2007 under the name "Liquid Trio Experiment".
Vanilla Fudge is an American rock band known predominantly for their slow extended heavy rock arrangements of contemporary hit songs, such as their hit cover of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On".

Fair to Midland was an American alternative metal band based in Texas. They produced two self-released albums before signing to Serjical Strike, Serj Tankian's vanity label at Universal Republic. There, they released their only major record label album, Fables from a Mayfly, in 2007. While the album broke into the Billboard 200, they eventually parted ways with Serjical Strike and later released their fourth album Arrows and Anchors in July 2011. Tentative plans for a fifth album had been discussed at the end of the Arrow and Anchors touring cycle, but the band became inactive in 2013.

Big Big Train are an English progressive rock band formed in Bournemouth in 1990. The current line-up includes band founder Gregory Spawton, along with Nick D'Virgilio, Rikard Sjöblom, Dave Foster (guitars), Clare Lindley, Alberto Bravin and Oskar Holldorff. Until 2009, the band were active as a predominantly studio project led by Spawton and co-founder Andy Poole, who departed the band in 2018, with changing line-ups and guest musicians. Lifesigns are an English progressive rock band, first conceived by lead singer and keys player John Young in 2008. By 2014, the band's lineup included Steve Rispin as their sound engineer, Jon Poole on bass and vocals, Martin "Frosty" Beedle on drums, percussion and vocals, and formerly Niko Tsonev on guitars and vocals. After Tsonev departed the band in 2016, Dave Bainbridge joined on guitar and additional keys. Beedle left the band in 2020 and was replaced by Zoltán Csörsz.

Currently based in Linköping, Östergötland, they play a blend of progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal inspired by 1970s bands, resulting in a genre that they call "adventure rock".
