Heben Nigatu is an Ethiopian-American writer and the former co-host of BuzzFeed podcast Another Round which stopped broadcasting in 2017. She previously wrote for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and is currently a staff writer for Desus & Mero on Showtime. [1] [2]

Nigatu began working at BuzzFeed first on a three-month fellowship while still a student, then joined the full-time staff. [7]
In March 2015, Nigatu and co-host Tracy Clayton launched BuzzFeed podcast Another Round. The Onion A.V. Club described Nigatu and Clayton as "funny and insightful hosts, bringing their infectious personalities to conversations that range from squirrels to self-care to microaggressions in the workplace." [8] The Guardian called them "the smartest, funniest women in the room and everyone wants to sit at their table"; [9] likewise writing for The Guardian , critic Sasha Frere-Jones described Clayton and Nigatu "leading American cultural critics." [10] In its first year, Another Round was rated by iTunes, [11] Slate, [12] Vulture, [13] and The Atlantic [14] as a "Best of 2015" podcast.
In late 2017, Nigatu and Clayton announced that BuzzFeed had decided to stop producing Another Round, but the two hosts were granted ownership of the show and plan to continue it outside BuzzFeed, after a hiatus. [15]
In April 2016, after three and a half years working for BuzzFeed, Nigatu announced she was moving to The Late Showwith Stephen Colbert, but would continue hosting Another Round. [16] She continued at The Late Show until January 2017. [17]
On 15 February 2019, it was announced that Nigatu was a staff writer for Desus & Mero , the comedy duo's 2019 late night show on Showtime.
In the wake of the 2016 police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, Nigatu created the hashtag #CarefreeBlackKids2k16. [18] Blavity described the photos and videos accompanying the hashtag "the bright light we needed after this troubling week." [19]

He rose to prominence alongside fellow Bronx native Desus Nice with their Complex TV 46-episode podcast Desus vs. Mero, which first premiered on December 18, 2013. He was a cast member of Guy Code with Desus Nice. He was the co-host of Viceland's Desus & Mero talk show alongside Desus until June 2018, and co-hosted Desus & Mero which premiered on February 21, 2019, on Showtime.

Carefree Black Girls is a cultural concept and movement that aims to increase the breadth of "alternative" representations of black women. The origins of this expression can be traced to both Twitter and Tumblr. Zeba Blay was reportedly the first person to use the expression as a hashtag on Twitter in May 2013. Danielle Hawkins soon launched a blog on Tumblr by the same name. In her article for The Root, Diamond Sharp describes "carefree black girls" as an idea that, "[black women] have used to anchor expressions of individuality and whimsy in the face of the heavy stereotypes and painful realities that too often color discussions of their demographic." At Refinery29, Jamala Johns said it was "a way to celebrate all things joyous and eclectic among brown ladies. Cultivated online and driven by social media, it's one telling piece of a much wider development of inspiration assembled by and for black women." Hillary Crosley Coker, a reporter for Jezebel provides specific examples of notable black women embodying the concept. She claims that, "ladies like Chiara de Blasio, Solange [Knowles] and her eclectic style and Janelle Monae's futurism are their patron saints".
Desus & Mero is an American television late-night talk show hosted by Desus Nice and The Kid Mero that ran from October 17, 2016, to June 28, 2018, on Viceland. In 2018, the show's hosts left Viceland and moved to Showtime and the new Desus & Mero premiered on February 21, 2019.

Fumudoh stars in and executive produces the Showtime variety series Ziwe, which premiered in May 2021.
