Helena Ksenia Kuusisto (born November 6, 1992) is a Finnish karateka. She represents the Shotokan karate club in Pori, Finland.
Her trainer is Sade-Maria Pirttinen who previously coached karate champion Anssi Kaltevo.
Competing in the Women's +68 kg kumite, Kuusisto won the silver medal in the 2012 World Cup in Athens, as well as the Premier League bronze medals in Frankfurt, Germany, Istanbul, Turkey and Salzburg, Austria. In 2013, Kuusisto competed in the Young People's European Championships held in Konya, Turkey She won the Youth European Championship bronze medal for participants 18 to 20 years of age. In addition, she also won silver medals in several matches in the Premier League Competitions in Paris.
In 2014, Kuusisto won the general series of European Championship bronze in the +68 kg category. Kuusisto was also involved in the EM-silver speed, a women's team along with Emma Aronen, Melis Abatin and Henna Kuusisto. She has won the Finnish Open in her career (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013), as well as the Estonia Open (2010, 2012), Budapest Open (2010, 2011), Stockholm Open (2011), Latvia Open (2011) and the Czech Karate Euro GP (2013). Kuusisto won her first world title, most commonly won in northern European countries such as Finland, in the spring of 2012. She won gold in the PM-2013 and 2014. During her career she achieved a number of the most common series of Finnish championships, first in 2009 when she won at age 16 SM-gold and the women's + 68 kg in the women's open weight class. She has a number of young Finnish championships.
In the 2011 Youth World Championships in Malaysia, Kuusisto won the 5th place from 18–20 years in the +60 kg category. She has participated in the Junior World Championships in 2009. In the Youth Championship competitions, she has participated in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Kuusisto has also participated in a series of general European championships in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Naz Aydemir Akyol is a Turkish volleyball player. She plays as a setter for Eczacıbaşı Dynavit and the Turkey women's national volleyball team. She has won a total of nine Turkish League championships, four with Vakıfbank, three with Eczacıbaşı and two with Fenerbahçe. She has four CEV Champions League championships, winning three with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She also has three FIVB Club World Championship, winning two with Vakıfbank and one with Fenerbahçe. She was part of the Turkey national team at the 2012 and 2020 Summer Olympics.
Serap Özçelik Arapoğlu is a Turkish karateka, who competes in the kumite 50–53 kg divisions. She won a world title in 2014 and a European title in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
Hafize Şahin is a Turkish female freestyle wrestler competing in the 59 kg division. She is a member of the Trakya Birlik SK in Edirne, where she is coached by Habil Kara. She continues her study in physical education and sports at Trakya University, which she began at Aksaray University.
Meltem Hocaoğlu Akyol is a Turkish karateka competing in the kumite +68 kg division.
Yadira Lira Navarro is a Mexican athlete and coach, whose specialty is karate. She won the Karate World Championships twice, and was runner-up in 2006. In 2010, she won the silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico. In 2011, she won a silver medal at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, which earned her a National Sports Award. She retired from competition in 2012 to become a coach of the Mexican youth karate team.
Bettina Plank is an Austrian karateka. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 55 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She is a two-time bronze medalist in the women's 50 kg event at the World Karate Championships and a three-time medalist, including two gold medals, at the European Games.
Irina Zaretska is a Ukrainian and Azerbaijani karateka. She won the silver medal in the women's +61 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. She is a three-time gold medalist in the women's 68 kg event at the World Karate Championships. Zaretska is also a two-time gold medalist in this event at the Islamic Solidarity Games and the European Games.
Elena Quirici is a Swiss karateka. She is a two-time medalist at the World Karate Championships and a seven-time medalist, including four golds, at the European Karate Championships.
Merve Çoban is a Turkish karateka. She won the bronze medal in the 61 kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She is also a gold medalist and a two-time silver medalist in the women's kumite 61 kg event at the European Karate Championships.
Silvia Semeraro is an Italian karateka. She won the gold medal in the women's kumite 68 kg event at the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, United States. Semeraro also won the gold medal in the same event at the 2019 European Games held in Minsk, Belarus. She won the silver medal in the women's 68 kg event at the 2021 World Karate Championships held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Alexandra Recchia is a French karateka. She is a two-time gold medalist in the women's kumite 50 kg event at the World Karate Championships and a two-time gold medalist in this event at the European Karate Championships.
Alisa Theresa Buchinger is an Austrian karateka. She won the gold medal in the women's kumite 68 kg at the 2016 World Karate Championships in Linz, Austria. She is also a two-time gold medalist in this event at the European Karate Championships, both in 2015 and in 2017.
Alizée Agier is a French karateka. She won the gold medal in the women's kumite 68 kg event at the 2014 World Karate Championships held in Bremen, Germany. She also won the gold medal in this event at the 2019 European Karate Championships held in Guadalajara, Spain.
Eda Eltemur is a Turkish karateka. She won the gold medal in the women's 68 kg event at the 2022 European Karate Championships held in Gaziantep, Turkey. She is also a two-time medalist at the Islamic Solidarity Games and the Mediterranean Games.
Sofya Berultseva is a Kazakhstani Professional karateka Olympic bronze medallist, she represents Kazakhstan internationally at Kumite (Karate) events. She won a bronze medal in her event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan and the 2021 World Karate Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Lucija Lesjak is a Croatian karateka. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's +68 kg event at the 2021 World Karate Championships held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
