Hemalatha, often credited as Hema, is an Indian actress and dancer. She is acclaimed for her roles as Raghavi in the popular soap opera Kana Kaanum Kaalangal on STAR Vijay and as Deepa in the superhit Tamil drama serial on Sun TV Thendral . She was the winner of the reality dance show Jodi Number One in Season 3 along with Michael Thangadurai. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Career

Hemalatha was born in Tamil family, started her career as a child actress. [7] She made her début in films in the Rajinikanth starer and superhit Baasha [8] and then acted in the Sarath Kumar starer Suryavamsam . [9] Her first Tamil serial was when she played the role of Baby Kaveri in Chithi. [10] [11] [12] She played the role of Raghavi, a high school student, in Kana Kaanum Kaalangal [13] and later the role of Deepa in the prime time serial Thendral , which made her a household name and established her as one of the top television actresses. [14]

Kana Kaanum Kaalangal is a Tamil drama soap opera that aired in Star Vijay, Monday to Thursday, from 30 October 2006 to 28 April 2009. It was the first soap in Tamil television that focused on school life. Due to the success of the show, a sequel called Kana Kaanum Kaalangal Kallooriyin Kadhai was made. Later another sequel to the serial called Kana Kaanum Kalangal Kalloori Saalai was also made. Both the sequels focused on college life. It was re-aired on Star Vijay Super from 16 January 2017, Monday through Friday at 8:00PM.

The story revolves around the struggles of a group of high school students and what they face during their secondary school life such as jealousy, rivalry, misunderstandings, arguments and personal grudges.Season 1 ended with episode 132. While Season 2 is premiered on 21 April 2023.

Haripriya Isai is an Indian television actress and a presenter, who appears in Tamil launguage TV series. She made her television debut with Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, and later appeared in few television series. She is known for her role on Ethirneechal (2022), which is being aired on Sun TV.
