Hemchandra Baburao Kekre (4 April 1935 –5 November 2014)[ citation needed ] was a professor,author,and head of the Computer Science Department at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Hemchandra Kekre was born in India on 4 April 1935 to Mrinalini Kekre,and Baburao Kekre.[ citation needed ]
Kekre graduated with degrees including:B.E. (Hons) in Telecommunications engineering from Jabalpur Engineering College,MTech in Electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay,M.S.Engg in (Electrical engineering) from the University of Ottawa,and lastly a PhD in Electrical Engineering from IIT Mumbai.[ citation needed ]
Kekre moved from the electrical department to the computer science department 1970. Kekre was head of the Computer Science department between 1978 and 1984. Kekre retired from IIT Mumbai in 1995,and joined Thadomal Shahani Engineering College in Mumbai as a Professor of Computer Science,Vice Principal,and Head of Department of Computer Science. In 2008 Kekre joined Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management &Engineering (MPSTME) as a Senior Professor of Computer Science.[ citation needed ] Kekre worked in MPSTME until his death.[ citation needed ]

Purushottam Kashinath Kelkar (1909-1990) was an Indian scientist who is best remembered for being the founding director of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur,which was established in 1959. He was also involved in the planning process for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai and served as its third director,for a period of 4 years. Kelkar was instrumental in securing USA's technical collaboration in the establishment of IIT Kanpur,by persuading the then USA ambassador,John Kenneth Galbraith to locate the fledgeling institution on the outskirts of Kanpur,in North India. BETIC based at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is an inter-disciplinary multi-institution initiative for medical device innovation. Established in 2014 with support from the government of Maharashtra,it comprises a network of 14 engineering and medical institutes across the state.
