Henock Kankoshi

Henock Tangeni Kankoshi (born 19 September 1965), is a Namibian politician. He served as governor of Oshikoto Region, succeeding Penda Ya Ndakolo in 2015. When his term ended in April 2020, Ya Ndakolo became Oshikoto governor again.^[1]^[2]

Kankoshi was born in Onyaanya Constituency and went to school in Ondangwa. He attended Ongwediva College of Education between 1984 and 1985 and became a teacher. In 2004 Kankoshi was elected regional councillor for the Onyaanya Constituency. He was subsequently selected to represent the region in the National Council.^[3]

Kankoshi has been active in SWAPO since before independence. He served as the party's regional coordinator in the Oshikoto Region from 2002 to 2004, and he served on the party's central committee. Kankoshi also wrote a novel, Ampundja ya Kula Nahe Ambambi Ya Putuka Nayina which was published locally.^[3]

Eengodi Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 14,995 inhabitants in 2004 and 7,740 registered voters in 2020.

Guinas Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 8,435 inhabitants in 2004 and 4,210 registered voters in 2020. Guinas consists of the rural area surrounding the mining town of Tsumeb. Larger settlements in the Guinas constituency are Oshivelo and Tsintsabis.

Okankolo Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 12,926 inhabitants in 2004 and 8,487 registered voters in 2020. The district capital is the settlement of Okankolo. Settlements in this constituency include Onkumbula, Omeyantalala, Omakango, Omunduta, Omhuuda, and Omutwewomedi.

Olukonda Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 9,094 inhabitants in 2004 and 7,495 registered voters in 2020. The district capital is the settlement of Olukonda.

Omuntele Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region on the northern part of Namibia. It had 21,884 inhabitants in 2004 and 9,854 registered voters in 2020. The district capital is the settlement of Omuntele.

Omuthiyagwiipundi Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. It had 21,884 inhabitants in 2004 and 15,220 registered voters in 2020. The constituency contains the settlements of Omuthiya and Iipundi. The area is predominantly rural.

Jafet Penda Ya Ndakolo is a Namibian SWAPO politician and current governor of Oshikoto Region. He served as Minister of Defence from 2015 to 2020. After losing his position as minister in 2020 he was appointed to his old position as governor again.

Tsumeb Constituency is an electoral constituency in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia, comprising the town area and surroundings of Tsumeb. It had a population of 44,113 in 2004 and 19,065 registered voters in 2020.

Sophia Shaningwa is a Namibian politician, currently serving as secretary general of the SWAPO party.

Henock Sheya ya Kasita was a Namibian politician who was the deputy minister of lands and resettlement from 2008 to 2010. He previously was deputy minister of mines and energy from 2003 to 2008, SWAPO chief whip in the National Council from 1994 to 2003. He was a member of the National Council for Oshana Region from 1993 to 2010, and a founding councilor for Okaku Constituency in 1993 until 2010. He was also deputy chairperson for the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) National Group from 1996 to 2000, and became its chairperson from 2000 to 2004.
