Henriette Iatika (born 19 June 1985) is a beach volleyball player from Vanuatu.

Life & career

Iatika was born in 1985 in Tanna, Vanuatu [1] [2] and currently resides in Port Villa. [3]

Iatika's first beach volleyball competition was in the 2006 Vanuatu Open, following which she was selected for the national team. Playing with Miller Elwin, she won silver in the 2007 Oceania Championship in Samoa and bronze in the South Pacific Games, also in 2007. [4] [5]

In 2008 she won bronze at the U23 Championship in Australia and, with Miller Elwin, she placed third at the Queensland Open. [4] She played in her first Swatch FIVB World Tour in March 2008 in Adelaide, Australia [4] and won gold in the 2008 Oceania Championship in Tonga. [6] [7]

In 2012 she won the silver medal (with Miller Elwin) at the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship. [4] She won gold, with Joyce Joshua, at the 2012 Oceania Beach Volleyball Championships. [8]

In 2013 Iatika and Elwin competed together in the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship and the Beach Volleyball World Championships, placing 37th. [9] [10]

Iatika has been the team captain for the Vanuatu national beach volleyball team [4] and currently holds a coaching role for the Vanuatu Pacific Games team. [2]

Since 2003, cricket has featured at every Pacific Games. Detailed records of the tournaments prior to 2003 have not been kept and beyond knowing what teams won the gold and silver medals at each Games, little is known with certainty of the first three tournaments.

Xue Chen Chinese beach volleyball player

Xue Chen is a Chinese female beach volleyball player, measuring 191 centimetres in height. Her hometown is Fuzhou, but she trains in Sanya, Hainan. She has also trained in California under coach Dane Selznick. She competed at the 2020 Olympics with X. Wang in Tokyo held in 2021.

April Ross American beach volleyball player

April Elizabeth Ross is an American beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic medalist. She won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Jennifer Kessy, a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics with Kerri Walsh Jennings, and a gold medal at 2020 Summer Olympics with Alix Klineman. Ross and Kessy were also the 2009 Beach Volleyball World Champions.

1997 South Pacific Mini Games

The 1997 South Pacific Mini Games were held at Pago Pago in American Samoa from 11 to 22 August 1997. It was the fifth edition of the South Pacific Mini Games. It was much larger than previous editions, with an almost doubling of the number of medals awarded compared to the 1993 South Pacific Mini Games. The impressive performances by Nauru in weightlifting continued in Pago Pago, with the tiny nation finishing on top of the unofficial medal table after winning 33 gold.

2017 Pacific Mini Games

The 2017 Pacific Mini Games were held in Port Vila, Vanuatu, in December 2017. It was the tenth edition of the Pacific Mini Games, and the second to be hosted in Vanuatu.

Sarah Lindsey Pavan is a Canadian beach volleyball and former indoor volleyball player. She was part of the Canada women's national volleyball team at the 2010 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan. With Melissa Humana-Paredes she won the women's gold medal at the 2019 Beach Volleyball World Championships.

Taliqua Clancy Australian beach volleyball player

Taliqua Clancy is an Australian volleyball and beach volleyball player who represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in beach volleyball, partnered with Louise Bawden. She is the first Indigenous Australian volleyball player to represent Australia at the Olympics. Clancy plays as a left-side blocker.

Mariafe Artacho del Solar Australian beach volleyball player

Mariafe Artacho del Solar is an Australian beach volleyball player. She represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. Artacho del Solar plays as a right-side defender. According to the Women's FIVB World Rankings, she and partner Taliqua Clancy are ranked 5th as of 21 January 2020.

Beach volleyball at the Pacific Games has been contested since 1999 when the sport was included at the Eleventh South Pacific Games held in Guam. Since that time, Beach volleyball has been one of the core sports of the Pacific Games, required to be included for both men and women in every games. It has also been included in some of the Pacific Mini Games, starting with the seventh edition held in Palau in 2005.
