Biography

Manson was born in 1872. [1] He would graduate from the University of Wisconsin Law School and marry the daughter of former Madison, Wisconsin Mayor Albert A. Dye. They would adopt one child together. Manson died on April 29, 1914.

Career

Manson was Chairman of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin from 1906 to 1909. He had also served as Chairman of the Marathon County, Wisconsin Democratic Party, City Attorney of Wausau, Wisconsin and District Attorney of Marathon County. In 1902, he was a candidate for the Wisconsin State Assembly. [2] Manson was a delegate to the 1908 Democratic National Convention before being appointed as Collector of Internal Revenue of the Western District of Wisconsin by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson.

Incumbent Democratic Senator Herb Kohl retired instead of running for re-election to a fifth term. This was the first open Senate seat in Wisconsin since 1988, when Kohl won his first term.

Prior to winning election as Attorney General, Schimel was district attorney of Waukesha County.

All of Wisconsin's eight seats in the United States House of Representatives were up for election, as well as sixteen seats in the Wisconsin State Senate and all 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Voters also chose ten electors to represent them in the Electoral College, which then participated in selecting the president of the United States. The 2020 Fall Partisan Primary was held on August 11, 2020.
