Heritage Polytechnic, Eket, Akwa Ibom state, is a privately owned polytechnic institute located in Ikot Udota, Eket in a Serene environment of over a 30-hectare land mass in the friendly community of Ikot Udota Eket some three Kilometers from Exxon Mobil Airstrip Eket. [1] The institution is about a 10-minute drive from the heart of Ekel town. Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. [2] [3] [4]

Background

The Polytechnic is well known as an institution of excellence, that is committed to raising students who will become excellent leaders in the government and industries. [5] Heritage Polytechnic was founded by Emmanuel J. Ekott with support from NGOs and companies operating within the Nigeria Delta Region of Nigeria. Emmanuel J. Ekott is a Chemical Engineer [6] who took off in 1996 as the Christian Continuing Education Centre. By 1999, it metamorphosed to the Christian Institute of Continuing Education. In 2000, the institution became known as Heritage College and it was licensed by the National Board for Technical Education as a Polytechnic in 2010. [7] [8] [9]

Heritage Polytechnic has a world class 3000 seats library with an elibrary section. The library has over 15,000 volumes in all fields of studies [10]

Eket is one of the 31 local government areas in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The name Eket or Ekid also refers to the indigenous ethnic group of the region and to their language. The Eket people use the endonym Ekid for themselves and their language, but Europeans spell and pronounce the name as "Eket".

Etinan is located within the South South part of Nigeria and constitutes one of the Local Government Areas in the oil rich Akwa Ibom State. Known for its agricultural and arts craft products, the area forms one of the most peaceful locations in the West African State of Nigeria.

Ibeno is located in the south of Nigeria and is a Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Ibeno town lies on the eastern side of the Kwa Ibo River about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the river mouth, and is one of the largest fishing settlements on the Nigerian coast. Ibeno lies in the Mangrove Forest Belt of the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, bounded to the west by Eastern Obolo Local Government Area, to the north by Onna, Esit Eket and Eket, and to the south by the Atlantic Ocean.

Nsit Atai Local government area was created in the year 1996 with its capital at Odot by the government of Gen. Sani Abacha. It has an area of out of an about 17,000 square kilometers, with 62 villages.

Nsit Ibom is a local government area in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, it shares common boundaries with Ibesikpo Asutan, Etinan, Nsit Ubium and Uyo Local Government Areas. The people of Nsit Ibom are of the Ibibio ethnic extraction.

University of Cross River State also known as UNICROSS is a state-owned tertiary institution with four campuses spread across four Local Government Areas of the state. The University was formerly known as the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH). It was renamed in February of 2021 by a bill passed at Cross River State House of Assembly which was then approved by the former Governor of the State, Benedict Ayade. The change of the tertiary institution's name was to enable the varsity function as a conventional University, which provides the opportunity to offer more professional courses rather focusing on tech-related courses.
