HiFi Superstar is a Chicago, Illinois-based rock band known for their 1970s look and original music.

Lead singer and songwriter Mike Paterson began playing with drummer Glenn Mikes in the 1980s hair band Little Venus, [1] opening for such bands as Enuff Z'Nuff and Lillian Axe, before forming the band Liquid Earth. In the early 1990s, Liquid Earth had its first demo produced by Johnny K, who has since worked with such bands as Disturbed, Sevendust, and 3 Doors Down.

In March 2005, Paterson and Mikes joined with bass guitarist Sean Jacobs and keyboardist Dave Rudin to form Brownline Fiasco. Prior to the formation of Brownline Fiasco, Jacobs and Rudin played together in a local cover-band. In preparation for their first album, lead guitarist Michael Danz was added in 2006. Guitarist Sean Fried replaced Danz in 2009 and played with the band until early 2011. [2] In late 2011, Jonny Untch joined the band as the new lead guitarist.

The band formally changed its name from Brownline Fiasco to HiFi Superstar in May 2009. [3] Under the name HiFi Superstar, the band has played with such performers as Missing Persons, Tommy Tutone, Stryper, Cheap Trick, and American Idols' Bo Bice [4] [5]

In September 2006, the band released the CD New Revolution, which included the Billboard Award-winning song, Milk & Honey, written by lead singer and guitarist Mike Paterson. [6] [7] Following almost two years of touring, the band released their follow-up album, Superstar, in June 2008. The album's title song, Superstar, won the band an MTV Video Music Award in 2009.

In 2010, HiFi Superstar participated in a tribute album to the late guitar legend Tommy Bolin. The album, Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, features songs from other great musicians, such as Jeff Pilson from Foreigner, Eric Martin from Mr. Big, Randy Jackson from Zebra, and Derek St. Holmes from Ted Nugent Band. In addition to their song contribution, It's Up To You, HiFi Superstar's drummer, Glenn Mikes, also recorded and produced track 16, Feel It's Time For Love, by A Gain Of Ten. A percentage of the proceeds from the project will benefit the Jackson Recovery Centers. [8]

HiFi Superstar is managed by NTD Management and is signed to NTD Records, which also manages such acts as 7th Heaven.

New Adventures in Hi-Fi is the tenth studio album by the American alternative rock band R.E.M. It was their fifth major-label release for Warner Bros. Records, released on September 9, 1996, in Europe and Australia, and the following day in the United States. New Adventures in Hi-Fi was the last album recorded with founding member Bill Berry, original manager Jefferson Holt, and long-time producer Scott Litt. The members of R.E.M. consider the recorded album representative of the band at their peak, and fans generally regard it as the band's last great record before a perceived artistic decline during the late 1990s and early 2000s. It has sold around seven million units, growing in cult status years after its release, with several retrospectives ranking it among the top of the band's recorded catalogue.

Prior to the group's formation, Jones was well known for being a drummer in the successful alternative rock bands Veruca Salt and Letters to Cleo. Stacy Jones formed American Hi-Fi in 2000; later that year he went to Maui, Hawaii to record drums for Nina Gordon's debut solo album. The rest of American Hi-Fi joined Jones and recorded their debut album with producer Bob Rock at Planation Mixing and Recording. Described as a pop punk and power pop album, American Hi-Fi was compared to Blink-182, Foo Fighters, and Weezer.

"Rainier Fog" is a song by the American rock band Alice in Chains. It is the fourth single and the title track to the band's sixth studio album, Rainier Fog (2018). Written by guitarist and vocalist Jerry Cantrell, the song is a tribute to the Seattle music scene and the band's former members, Layne Staley and Mike Starr, and the title was inspired by Mount Rainier, a volcano that overlooks Seattle. The single peaked at No. 20 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. Excerpts from the lyrics are featured upside down on the album cover. The full lyrics to "Rainier Fog" are inscribed on the bottom plate of Jerry Cantrell's signature Dunlop Cry Baby Wah pedal, released in April 2019.
