Hi Jinx (1955−1979) was a New Zealand-bred Thoroughbred racemare who won the Centenary Melbourne Cup in 1960, at the odds of 50 to 1.
Hi Jinx was bred by the estate of C.J Casey senior and foaled at Trelawney Stud, Cambridge. She was sired by the non-winner, but good sire, Pride of Kildare (IRE), her dam was the Great Northern Oaks winner, Lady's Bridge by the leading sire, Foxbridge (GB) out of Miss Ridicule by The Ace (GB). [1] Pride of Kildare was imported into New Zealand by Seton Otway and sired 15 stakes-winners that won 36 stakes races before he was exported to Japan. [2] Hi Jinx was a half-sister to Erin's Bridge (dam of the stakes-winner, Marchere). She was inbred to Bayardo in the fourth generation (4mx4f).
She was sold for 500 guineas and raced in the partnership of Trevor H. Knowles and K.R. Sly. [3]
Hi Jinx was trained by her part owner, Trevor H. Knowles. Her record was undistinguished prior to going to Australia. There she was unplaced in the Caulfield Cup before finishing second in the Moonee Valley Cup. Hi Jinx was allotted 7 stone 10 pounds in the Centenary Melbourne Cup and ridden by William A. Smith. The field of 32 included the champion racehorse Tulloch who finished seventh. Hi Jinx started at 50/1 and defeated the New Zealand-bred horses Howsie and Ilumquh by a half head, and a neck in 3.23¾. Silver Knight, (1967−1992) was a grey New Zealand Thoroughbred racehorse stallion. He was by Alcimedes (GB), his dam Cuban Fox was by Foxbridge. He was bred by Seton Otway at the Trelawney Stud, Cambridge, New Zealand. It was here that Polo Prince, Hi Jinx, Macdougal, Foxzami and Hiraji were bred before also going on to win their Melbourne Cups.
Eight Carat (GB) (1975–2000) was a British-bred Thoroughbred broodmare. in Australasia. She produced five individual Group One winners, including Octagonal, Mouawad, Kaapstad, Diamond Lover and (Our) Marquise who had 28 stakes wins between them.

He had won races over distances ranging from five furlongs to three miles. He was the Leading sire in Australia in 1895 and was close to the top of the list for a decade.
Court Martial was a Thoroughbred racehorse bred and raced by Lord Astor best known for defeating two exceptional colts in Dante and Royal Charger for the Classic 2000 Guineas Stakes and as a two-time leading sire in Great Britain and Ireland.
Tranquil Star was one of the hardiest and best performed Australian-bred Thoroughbred race-mares. She is the only mare to have won the double of the Caulfield Stakes, now known as the Yalumba Stakes, and the Cox Plate, which is the most prestigious weight-for-age (wfa) race in Australia. Tranquil Star had 111 starts and won over distances ranging from 5 furlongs to 14 furlongs. She was later inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
Wenona Girl was a leading Australian Thoroughbred horse racemare that had 27 wins over distances ranging from 4½ furlongs to 1½ miles. She won 22 principal races, 15 of which were later designated group one (G1) races. Wenona Girl's principal wins included the VRC Sires Produce Stakes, AJC Sires Produce Stakes, George Adams Handicap, One Thousand Guineas, VATC Futurity Stakes, AJC George Main Stakes, AJC All Aged Stakes, AJC Adrian Knox Oaks Stakes, Rawson Stakes and Rosehill Guineas, all of which were later classified as G1 races. At the time of her retirement she was the highest stakes winning mare to have raced in Australia. At stud she was a good broodmare. Wenona Girl was later inducted into Australian Racing Hall of Fame.
Cresta Run was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old in 1926 she showed steady improvement, winning two of her i races including the valuable Imperial Produce Stakes. On her three-year-old debut she recorded a win in the 1000 Guineas but failed to reproduce her form in two subsequent races over longer distances. She had little immediate success as a broodmare but had a long-term influence on the breed though her daughter Gold Race.
