High Anxiety is an independent album by American rapper 2Slimey. It was independently released on November 14, 2025, following the release of his debut album SsoMe (2024). [2] High Anxiety is a rage album which is known for its delirious and deformed use of 808s and synthesizers, paired with distorted bass and screeching vocals. [3] The album's lead single, "Live In Bass," was released on August 4, 2025, and another promotional single for the album, titled "Meat", was released on August 27, 2025.
On November 1, 2025, 2Slimey previewed a trailer for the album before releasing it on November 14. [4]
According to Anthony Fantano of TheNeedleDrop, High Anxiety is a rage album, which features "comical" levels of noise and distortion. Fantano claims that he sees 2Slimey take the aspects of the rage genre to a whole new level of extremity, stating how some of the songs off his album give off the vibes closer to a "basement power electronics performance" rather than any categorical form of rap, stating how it's basically just "noise." [5]
"Bring EmOut", according to Fantano, sees 2Slimey "firing on all cylinders." He states how the "little synth intro" sounds as if it came from a "little digital Christmas music box knick-knack, nestled in a mix that was pulled out of some ten-year-old bass boosted deep fried meme". Fantano also states how 2Slimey's voice "slices through all the mayhem using neon colored AutoTune, and disorienting vocal delays too." Fantano mentions how "unforgiving" the track is and feels surprised as to how he caught so much structure of detail from "Bring EmOut", due to the immense repetition of the refrain of the line, and beat transitions. Fantano also stated how "Roc" features a brutally deep-fried and loud bass, which also transitions into "In Her Jaw", which sees a feature from Izaya Tiji. Fantano compared the audio to that of a "decked out car stereo system" on his phone. "Rolling Off Molly" grabbed Fantano's attention the most. "Rolling Off Molly" features "sticky and catchy anthemic guitar-like lead melodies", and "stuttering hi-hats and snare patterns," making Fantano feel like as if he was a "Lightning Bolt show in 2005, except if you take Brian Chippendale's voice and run it with AutoTune." Fantano also says how "Pop Alot" feels like a "trap remix" of an "early Dan Deacon song", and sees the distortion "raised to an 11". Despite Fantano finding the album thrilling and interesting, he wrote that it also has its flaws, stating how not all the beats complement the dynamic flow of the album, citing how tracks such as "Shoot AtU" and "RedMoon" kind of fly by and don't have anything memorable to speak of, he also noted how Izaya Tiji's feature on "In Her Jaw" is one of the "weakest moments" on the album. Overall, Fantano concluded on a positive note, claiming that he had fun listening to the album and found "a surprising amount of highlights both vocally and instrumentally." Despite the review, Fantano didn't assign a rating to the album, but rather said how he feels a "strong vibe" for it. [6] [5]
All tracks are written by Sergio Garcia. "In Her Jaw" is written by Matthew Isaiah Carson. [7]
