Hindley Street Country Club (HSCC) is an Australian cover band formed in 2017 by Adelaide musicians Constantine Delo and Darren Mullan. [1] The band performs live and online, leveraging social media audiences on YouTube, TikTok and Facebook. [2] [3]

History

HSCC was established as a project by Darren Mullan and bassist Constantine Delo. Their goal was to create live versions of songs that are popular with Australian audiences. [4] To achieve this, they collaborated with notable live musicians from the Adelaide music scene, often forming a band of up to 12 musicians. [5] [6] The group would record re-imagined covers of popular songs, rehearse the songs three or four times together, and then record in one take and upload them to YouTube every Friday at 5pm. [7] [4]

The Hindley Street Country Club derives its name from Hindley Street in Adelaide, South Australia, a location where many members of the group performed at various venues during the peak of the street's live music scene in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. [1] [3]

In 2020, HSCC's videos gained substantial traction on YouTube, resulting in nearly 987,000 followers and approximately 567 million views. [1] In 2022, Dennis Dunstan was hired as band manager [7] and in the same year, the band was signed to American record label, Renaissance Records. [7]

In 2024, Mark Pope, Australian artist manager and producer, teamed up with entrepreneur, businessman and concert tour promoter, Michael Chugg to take on the touring management and promotion of the band. [8] The group travelled to Singapore to perform at the Singapore Grand Prix and in Manilla, Philippines in their first overseas performances. [9]

As of January 2025, the band has over 1.19 million subscribers on YouTube and continues to tour across Australia and the United States of America. [9]

Previous band members and guest artists have included co founder Darren Mullen, vocalists Andy Seymour, Vince Contarino, Ian Moss, Cam Blockland, Melissa McCaig, Diane Panopoulos, Ian "Polly" Politis, Zkye Compson-Harris, Glenn Cunningham and Pina Del Re. Other musicians have included Paul White (keyboard), Stefan Hauk (guitar), James Muller (guitar), Tzan Niko (guitar), Sam Leske (guitar) and Eric Santucci (trumpet). [10]

Redgum were an Australian folk and political music group formed in Adelaide in 1975 by singer-songwriters John Schumann and Michael Atkinson on guitars/vocals, and Verity Truman on flute/vocals; they were later joined by Hugh McDonald on fiddle and Chris Timms on violin. All four had been students at Flinders University and together developed a strong political voice. They are best known for their protest song exploring the impact of war in the 1980s "I Was Only 19", which peaked at No. 1 on the National singles charts. The history of blues in New Zealand dates from the 1960s. The original members were Bart Willoughby, Les Graham, Ricky Harrison, John Miller, and Veronica Rankine. As of 2024 the members are Willoughby, Harrison, Tjimba Possum Burns, and Sean Moffat. They were the first Aboriginal band to travel overseas. They have been inducted into the Hall of Fame at the inaugural National Indigenous Music Awards as well as the SA Music Hall of Fame, and have had a laneway in Adelaide CBD named after them.

Beccy Cole, also known as Beccy Sturtzel, Rebecca Diane Albeck and Bec O'Donovan, is an Australian country music singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She has released ten studio albums, with six reaching the ARIA Albums Chart top 40, Little Victories, Preloved, Songs & Pictures, Great Women of Country, Sweet Rebecca and The Great Country Songbook Volume 2. James Wright Group were an Australian rock, soul band from Adelaide, which grew in prominence in the latter half of the 1960s. They had two local top 10 hit singles, "Louise" (1970) and "Half a Minute" (1971). The band supported performances by Max Merritt, Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs, The Levi Smith Clefs, The Mixtures, and The Twilights. After two tours of the eastern coast the group disbanded in 1971. They reformed briefly in 1974 with John Swan as their drummer.

The Transatlantics were a funk and soul band from Adelaide, South Australia, formed in 2007.

Atlas Genius is an Australian alternative rock band formed in Adelaide, South Australia in November 2009. The band's mainstay members are the Jeffery brothers, Keith on lead vocals and lead guitar; Michael on drums; and Darren Sell on keyboard. Their debut album, When It Was Now, was issued on 9 February 2013 and peaked at No. 34 on the United States Billboard 200. In 2013 two of their singles appeared on the related Alternative Songs Chart, "Trojans" at No. 4 and "If So" at No. 8. In 2013 the group toured the US in April and May, United Kingdom in May, and back to the US in August.
