Hira Chandra KC (Nepali :हिराचन्द्रकेसी) (born 21 December 1975) is a Nepali politician,who is currently the State Minister of Health and Population in the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. [2] [3]
He is a member of the newly formed CPN (Unified Socialist). KC was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Representatives from Dang 3 (constituency) in the 2017 General Election. [4] He was elected representing CPN UML of the left alliance, [5] defeating his closest rival Dipak Giri of Nepali Congress. He secured 40,287 votes to Giri's 33,730. [6]

In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election,Adhikari was elected from the Kaski-3 constituency,with 13,386 votes. Representing the left alliance,Adhikari secured 27,207 votes to defeat Nepali Congress candidate Dev Raj Chalise,who got 18,661 votes. After his demise,his wife Bidya Bhattarai won Kaski Constituency-2 with a wide margin of 8,403 votes in the by-election. Bhattarai secured 24,394 votes while her nearest contender Khem Raj Poudel from main opposition Nepali Congress got 15,991. Likewise,Socialist Party's Dharma Raj Gurung got 1,922 votes. He authored the books Constituent Assembly,Democracy and Re-structuring.

The first Lumbini Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 87 members were elected to the assembly,52 of whom were elected through direct elections and 35 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 4 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Shankar Pokharel from the CPN (UML) and Kul Prasad KC from the CPN served as chief ministers during the term of the assembly.
