Hiram Samuel Iyodi, born on August 29, 1987, in Douala (Cameroon), is a Cameroonian engineer, businessman and politician. He is the Executive Secretary of the Patriotic Movement for the Prosperity of the People (MP3), a sovereignist political party with pan-Africanist tendencies. [1]
In 2011, to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Francophone African countries, he published Mes Rêves de Jeune : Le Cameroun des 50 Prochaines années (éditions Veritas Cameroun). [2] This book outlines his vision for Cameroon up to 2060. It marked the beginning of his involvement in public life. In 2018, Hiram Iyodi was a key figure in the presidential campaign of Bar Association President Akere Muna. [3]
Childhood and early years
Hiram Samuel Iyodi was born on August 29, 1987, in Douala, Cameroon, as the eldest of three children. [4] His father, Dieudonné Iyodi (born in 1958), is a polytechnic-trained engineer who spent most of his career in the petroleum sector and hails from Sanaga-Maritime in the Littoral Region. [5]
Hiram Iyodi completed his secondary education at the Alfred Saker College (C.A.S.) in the sixth grade, then at the Libermann College where he obtained his scientific baccalaureate in 2004. After a brief stint at the University of Buea in 2004 (South-West Region of Cameroon), he continued his engineering studies at Laval University in Quebec City. Between 2005 and 2010, he studied chemical process engineering and then began a certificate in business administration. At the end of his studies, Hiram Samuel Iyodi graduated as a chemical process engineer, a specialist in the refining industries, and is a member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec. [6] [7] [8]
Hiram Samuel Iyodi returned to Cameroon in July 2011 with the main goal of publishing his book « Mes Rêves de Jeune: Le Cameroun des 50 prochaines années». [9]
Later that year, in November 2011, he joined Cameroun Audit Council (CAC), the successor to Ernst & Young Cameroon, as a junior auditor in the oil and gas department. [10] [11] Over the next five years, he carried out strategic consulting assignments, operational audits, and statutory audits for national petroleum companies, regulatory agencies, refineries, and petroleum distribution firms across Central Africa, gaining significant expertise in the energy sector. [12]
In 2016, Iyodi left CAC International to join the engineering firm founded by his father, a former TOTAL Cameroon executive, in the early 2000s. [5] He became Director of Operations, tasked with diversifying services and expanding the client portfolio. The company, initially known as AGENSE S.A., was rebranded as AFRIK'GENESIS, structured into four departments: oil, gas and mining; energy and infrastructure; security and environment; and industries and services. [13] From 2017 to 2022, Iyodi focused on developing the firm's activities in the transformation industries, emphasizing process optimization and cost efficiency, thereby consolidating its role as a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting enterprise.
In early 2017, Hiram Samuel Iyodi was approached by collaborators of lawyer Akere Muna, who was preparing to run in Cameroon's 2018 presidential election. Iyodi initially contributed as a strategic consultant before joining the newly formed NOW Movement as coordinator of its political program. [14]
During the 2018 campaign, Iyodi became one of Akere Muna's key figures. He organized and supervised the drafting of the political platform, represented and defended the candidate in the media, and led mobilization efforts in the Littoral Region, making him a central pillar of the campaign's strategy and outreach. [15] [16]
On December 31, 2024, Hiram Samuel Iyodi, then Executive Secretary of MP3, addressed Cameroonian citizens. His New Year's message outlined the party's 2025 strategy and its political manifesto for the presidential election. [17] [18]
