The Hockey Asian Champion Clubs Cup is an Asian field hockey tournament governed by Asian Hockey Federation (ASHF). It is introduced in 1991 for champions of hockey clubs in Asia. Champions from 2008 and upon will be representing Asia to the Hockey World Clubs Championship which started 2009 in Barcelona, Spain.

Dhanraj Pillay is a retired Indian field hockey player and former captain of the India national team. He also looks after the Air India Sports Promotion Board as a Joint Secretary based in Mumbai. For the last 5 years, Dhanraj is overseeing the SAG Hockey Academy in Gujarat funded by the Gujarat Government. He is widely regarded as one of the best Indian players of hockey.

Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium is a field hockey stadium at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Named after M. Radhakrishna Pillai, it was the venue to the 1996 Men's Champions Trophy, and hosted the tournament again in December 2005. It was also the venue for 2007 edition of Asian Hockey Championship, in which India triumphed by a thumping margin of 7–2 over South Korea.
