Monchy & Alexandra were a bachata musical group from the Dominican Republic. They sang together as a duo beginning in 1998. Their first big hit was "Hoja en Blanco (song)", which they released in 1999. Since then, they had many other hits, such as "Hasta El Fin" and "Perdidos", both from their 2004 album Hasta el Fin, as well as "No Es Una Novela" from their 2006 Éxitos y Más album. They have been often credited with being instrumental in popularizing bachata music outside of the Dominican Republic.
The 18th Lo Nuestro Awards was held on February 23, 2006 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami. The nominees were announced on December 12, 2005, during a press conference televised live on the Univision Network morning show ¡Despierta América!. The show was co-hosted by René Strickler and Patricia Manterola.

The Mix is Monchy & Alexandra's first remix album. It was released on June 10, 2003 under the Sony International label. The album contains music previously released by the artistic duo. The songs however have been mixed to fit other Latino musical genres, such as reggaeton, as well as European musical genres as techno. It also included the song "Polo Opuesto" which was used as the single to promote the album as it was the only song at the time to not be featured in previous albums. The song peaked at number 7 Billboard Tropical Airplay chart.

Ilegales is a Grammy-nominated Dominican merenhouse group, which is one of the main exponents that helped to introduce and establish the merenhouse to the mainstrean and get an international audience. The band is well known by hits such as "La Morena", "Taki Taki", "Tu Recuerdo", "La Otra" and "Chucucha". They were one of the first merenhouse acts to perform at Viña del Mar International Song Festival in 1998 and 2003.

This is also the first song between Monchy and Alexandra since their split in 2008. The duo reunited only for this song as they continued with their solo careers. "Hoja En Blanco" Song originally recorded by Los Diablitos del Vallenato in 1997, it belongs to the album called "Nace del Alma". It was written by the Colombian composer Wilfran Castillo and sung by the accordion player Omar Geles and Esmeralda Orozco. The composer was inspired by the story of his friend who went to work for a couple of years and when he returned he found the girl married.
