Homenaje (Spanish : Tribute) is a 1996 live album, recorded during the "Metal Rock Festival" at Obras Sanitarias. The concert was a reunion of the first line-up of the Argentine heavy metal band V8, with the exception of its original bass player Ricardo Iorio.
V8 was a 1980s Argentine heavy metal band whose most famous line-up included Ricardo Iorio (bass), Osvaldo Civile (guitar), Alberto Zamarbide (vocals) and Gustavo Rowek (drums), which recorded the band's first two studio albums. Civile and Rowek left in 1985, and the band broke up in 1987. All four members created new bands, all of which were among the most influential in Argentine heavy metal. Civile created Horcas, and Rowek joined Walter Giardino (another former V8 member) in Rata Blanca. Iorio created Hermética, and then Almafuerte when Hermética broke up in 1995. Zamarbide and the remaining members of the last line-up of V8 (including guitarist Miguel Roldán) formed the band Logos. [1]
Logos played a concert in Cemento in 1995, and Zamarbide invited Civile and Rowek to play four songs of V8 at the end, in an unannounced reunion. Since Iorio was absent, guitarist Roldán played bass. The reception was highly positive, and a second reunion was planned for the "Metal Rock Festival" at the Estadio Obras Sanitarias, to include the three bands Logos, Horcas and Rata Blanca. The V8 reunion, this time for a full concert, was unadvertised but spread as an open secret. [2]
The concert was recorded for a release as a live album. Rowek explained that the studio albums made by V8 had a low sound quality, that the band never had a big last concert, and that many young fans had never seen the band live. The CD also includes a new song, "A través de los tiempos" (Spanish : Across the times), recorded in the studio. The lyrics talk about the legacy of V8. The album is labeled as a tribute album; Gustavo Rowek clarified that it is a tribute to the fans of 1980s Argentine heavy metal in general. [2]

Almafuerte was a heavy metal band from Argentina, formed by bassist and lead singer Ricardo Iorio in 1995, after the dissolution of Hermética.
Hermética was an Argentine thrash metal band from San Martín, Buenos Aires. It was formed by bassist Ricardo Iorio in 1987 after his previous band, V8, disbanded. Hermética was signed to the independent record label Radio Trípoli Discos throughout their career. The band's initial lineup consisted of Iorio, vocalist Claudio O'Connor, drummer Fabián Spataro and guitarist Antonio Romano. Spataro left the band in 1988 and was replaced by Antonio Scotto. This lineup recorded their eponymous album, the first thrash metal album recorded in Argentina. At this point of their career, Hermética performed mainly in Argentina, except for one concert held in Uruguay. In 1990, they released Intérpretes—an extended play which included covers of Argentine rock and tango songs. Both albums were released by Radio Trípoli Discos as a single CD when digital technology became available.
Víctimas del Vaciamiento is the third and last studio album of Argentine thrash metal band Hermética, released in 1994 by Radio Trípoli Discos. It was certified gold, and the band broke up a few months after promoting the album at the Estadio Obras Sanitarias, an arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Horcas is an Argentina heavy metal band formed in 1988 by Osvaldo Civile, former guitarist for V8, Argentina's landmark heavy metal outfit of the 1980s. After quitting V8 in 1985, and impressed by the new generation of thrash metal bands from the Bay Area led by Metallica, Civile set out to put together a new group in that style. That project, which included former V8 bandmate Gustavo Rowek on the drums, was however delayed for a number of reasons, and it was not until 1988 that it could definitely take off. By that time though, put off by the incessant postponements, Rowek had joined another former V8 member, Walter Giardino, in his new project Rata Blanca.
