Athletics
Hoover athletics teams compete as a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and as a member of the Federal League. Hoover's girls softball team has won the state championship eight times, in 1998, 1999, 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. [5] In addition, the girls cross country team placed second in the state championships in 2008. The boys lacrosse team won the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association (non-OHSAA) state championship in 2006, going 18-2 overall. The Hoover girls lacrosse team finished second in the state in 2010 and again in 2011.
In 1985, the Vikings reached the state finals in football and state was state runner-up in basketball. The baseball team reached the Ohio Final Four in 1992 and 1999. Since joining the Federal League in 1968, the Hoover football program has claimed 22 Federal League Championships.
The Hoover High track & field team has also had success over the years, producing three individual state champions. [6] [7]

Music
Hoover High School has a music program which is split into instrumental and vocal music departments.
The instrumental music department consists of many performing ensembles. In fall, the band members participate in the Viking Marching Band which marches in all Hoover football games, [12] OMEA marching competitions, [12] and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Grand Parade. [12] [13] The band received an 'Excellent' rating at the OMEA state finals adjudicated competition in 2013, 2014, and 2015. [14] In 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, they received a 'Superior' rating. When football season ends, the band splits up into a Concert Band (C) and a Symphonic Band (AA). Both bands have consistently received superior ratings at OMEA non-marching competitions. Other ensembles in the instrumental department include Pep Band, two Jazz Bands, String Orchestra, and Full Orchestra as well as numerous small ensembles. The band and orchestra students take trips to places such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando every two years.
The choirs in the vocal department are the Freshman Choir, A-Cappella Choir, Hi-Notes, Lo-Notes, Women's Chorale, and the elite Hi-Lo's ensemble. Along with these choirs, the vocal music department puts on an annual musical. They also put on the annual May Fiesta concert which highlights all ensembles in the district as well as musical numbers by the years' seniors.
North Royalton High School is a public high school located in North Royalton, Ohio, United States, a suburban community in Greater Cleveland. Over 1,000 students attend the school. North Royalton is a member of the National Division of the Suburban League. The school colors are purple and gold and athletic teams are known as the Bears.
Anthony Wayne High School is a public high school in Whitehouse, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo. The school has an enrollment of approximately 1,330 students in grades 9–12 as of 2019–20. The school is named for General Anthony Wayne, who led troops in the nearby Battle of Fallen Timbers during the Northwest Indian War.
Lima Senior High School, the only high school in the Lima City Schools District, was established in 1955, in Lima, Ohio. There are approximately 1,500 students currently enrolled at Lima Senior.
Lake Catholic High School is a private Roman Catholic secondary school in Mentor, Ohio, United States. It is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
Marion Local High School is a public high school located in Maria Stein, in Mercer County, Ohio's Marion Township. It currently has approximately 286 students enrolled. The students are from Maria Stein and several surrounding communities, including Cassella, Chickasaw, St. Rose and St. Sebastian in Mercer County, Osgood in Darke County, as well as a small portion of Auglaize County. These communities were served by a series of local one-room school houses that still stand in Chickasaw, Minster, St. Rose and St. Sebastian. In 1922 a 2-year high school was established in Maria Stein and in 1930 a 3-story brick school was completed directly across from St. John's Church. In 1955 the Marion Local Consolidated School District was established and charged with strengthening the educational opportunities for students in the 6 member communities. The Marion Local School District built a new high school, the Marion Local High School, in Maria Stein in 1957.
Dublin Jerome High School is a public high school located in Dublin, Ohio, northwest of Columbus, Ohio. It is the newest of the three high schools in the Dublin City Schools district. Jerome opened for its first year during the 2004–2005 school year. Though located in the southeast tip of Union County, Dublin Jerome primarily serves students in parts of Franklin County and Delaware County. Jerome's mascot is the Celtic Warrior. Jerome was ranked number 143 in the Newsweek top high school rankings in 2013. In 2010 and 2021, Jerome was honored as a Blue Ribbon School by the US Department of Education.
Grove City High School is a high school in Grove City, Ohio, United States. It is one of the five high schools in the South-Western City Schools district. It houses about 1,900 students in grades 9-12. Formerly Jackson High School, Grove City High School moved from the former Park Street building in 1970, where it had been located since 1929. Grove City High School was chartered in the fall of 1895. The average classroom experience of GCHS teachers is 15.89 years. 46 teachers have bachelor's degrees and 63 have master's degrees or beyond. Special training has included TESA, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) training, site-based leadership training, integrated learning, alternative assessment, and alternative classroom management. Grove City High School has been A School Of Excellence for five years now.
Perry High School is a public high school in Perry Township, Ohio, United States near Massillon. It is the only public high school in the Perry Local School District in Stark County.
Tri-Valley High School, located in Dresden, Ohio, is the high school for the Tri-Valley Local School District, a public school district encompassing northwest and north central Muskingum County, Ohio.
Lake High School is a public high school in Lake Township, Stark County, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Lake Local Schools district. Lake's sports teams are nicknamed the Blue Streaks, after the township's history of oddly-colored lightning storms, and are a part of the Federal League along with Canton McKinley, GlenOak, Green, Hoover, Jackson, and Perry.
Louisville High School is a public high school located in Louisville, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Louisville City School District. It serves all of the city of Louisville and the majority of the surrounding Nimishillen Township.
Berne Union High School is a public high school in Sugar Grove, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Berne Union Local Schools district.
Pickerington High School North is a public high school in Pickerington, Ohio. It is one of two high schools in the Pickerington Local School District. The mascot is the Panther. In 2002, "Pickerington High School" split into two high schools, Pickerington High School Central and Pickerington High School North. Pickerington High School North opened on August 24, 2003.
Napoleon High School is a public high school in Napoleon, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Napoleon Area City School District. Their nickname is the Wildcats. They are a member of the Northern Lakes League.
Norwalk High School is a public high school in Norwalk, Ohio. It is the only public high school in the Norwalk City Schools district. The school was established in 1857 and the nickname of the school is the Truckers.
Rock Hill High School (RHHS) is a rural, public high school near Ironton, Ohio. It is officially called Rock Hill Senior High School. It is the only high school in the Rock Hill Local School District. The high school is a four-year school, offering grades 9-12. Their nickname is the Redmen, and their mascot is an Indian Chieftain. Its official colors are red and white.
Licking Heights High School is a public high school in Pataskala, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Licking Heights Local School District.
Miami East High School is a public high school in Casstown, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Miami East Local Schools district Their mascot is a Viking. There is also the Miami East Junior High School and Elementary building (k-8) next to the high school.
Teays Valley High School is a public high school located at 3887 State Route 752 in Ashville, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Teays Valley Local School District. The school mascot is the Viking.
The mission of Teays Valley High School is for all students to graduate and be prepared for college and career.
Portsmouth West High School (PWHS) is a public high school in Washington Township, just south of West Portsmouth, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Washington–Nile Local School District. Athletic teams are known as the Senators, adopted when the school's official name was Washington High School, and the school colors are black and orange.
