Houghton-Portage Township Schools (abbr. HPTS) is a school district that covers the city of Houghton, Michigan and Portage Township. It includes three schools: Houghton Elementary School, Houghton Middle School, and Houghton High School. [1]

It is the only high school in the Southeast Local School District and was established in 1950 with the consolidation of five rural high schools. The current building opened in 1954 with additions built in the 1960s, 1980s, and 2000s. The district covers nearly 100 square miles (260 km2) including the entire townships of Edinburg and Palmyra, as well as most of Paris, Deerfield and Charlestown townships.

It was built in 1914 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 2013. The building was listed as an example of early 20th century educational and Neoclassical architecture in rural Portage County and one of the few remaining buildings from that era still standing.
