Howie Nave, also known as Howard Nave, is an American stand-up comedian, radio personality, writer, and movie critic based in the resort town of Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He was recently known for incorporating music, especially guitar in his comedic performances and for his unique bagel based movie rating scale.
Howie Nave’s career began as a musician; he later went on the road full-time where he performed at comedy clubs in the western states: The Punchline, Laughs Unlimited, The Laugh Factory, Laffs Comedy Café. In the early 1990s he appeared on the Dr. Demento Show. [1] Before going on the road full-time, Nave opened for such acts as Howie Mandel, The Smothers Brothers, "Weird Al" Yankovic and Neil Diamond.[ citation needed ]
In 1990s Howie was working the Improv comedy clubs where he went on to run the Tahoe Improv. [2] In addition to managing the Improv, Howie hosts a morning radio show on KRLT. [3] which features in-studio interviews with visiting comics, local and regional politicians, entertainers that visit the Lake and people of news and media information.[ citation needed ]
Nave occasionally acts as emcee at local community fund raisers and events. In years past, he performed at the Nevada County Arts Council, Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, Acent – Gay Ski Week, [4] and the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care. [5]
Howie was born in Palo Alto [6] and raised by his father Bob Nave who had spent time in the Navy and his mother Joan Nave, a realtor. Howie Nave went to High School and College in San Jose, California and later transferred to Humboldt State University to earn a BA in Music.[ citation needed ]
Barret Eugene "Barry" Hansen, known professionally as Dr. Demento, is an American radio broadcaster and record collector specializing in novelty songs, comedy, and strange or unusual recordings dating from the early days of phonograph records to the present. Hansen created the Demento persona in 1970 while working at Pasadena, California, station KPPC-FM. He played "Transfusion" by Nervous Norvus on the radio, and DJ "The Obscene" Steven Clean said that Hansen had to be "demented" to play it, and the name stuck. His weekly show went into syndication in 1974 and was syndicated by the Westwood One Radio Network from 1978 to 1992. Broadcast syndication of the show ended on June 6, 2010, but the show continues to be produced weekly in an online version.
Just for Laughs is a comedy festival held each July in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1983, it is the largest international comedy festival in the world. It also serves as a television division.
Howard Michael Mandel is a Canadian comedian, television personality, screenwriter, actor, producer, director, entrepreneur, game show host, and author. He hosted the American CNBC game show Deal or No Deal, as well as the show's daytime and Canadian-English counterparts. Mandel voiced the character Gizmo in the 1984 film Gremlins and the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch. In 1987, Mandel starred alongside Amy Steel in the comedy film Walk Like a Man. From 1982 to 1988, Mandel played the rowdy ER intern Dr. Wayne Fiscus on the NBC medical drama St. Elsewhere. He also created, voiced, and starred in the FOX children's cartoon Bobby's World, and has been a judge on NBC's America's Got Talent since 2010.
The Improv is a comedy club franchise. Originally, it was a single venue founded in 1963 by Budd Friedman and located in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City on West 44th near the southeast corner of 9th Ave. A second location was opened in 1974 at 8162 Melrose Avenue in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, California. In 1979, Mark Lonow became a general partner and with Budd Friedman ran the Melrose club and oversaw the expansion of the single room as it became a successful chain. In 1982, the L.A. Improv became the original site for the A&E Network television series An Evening at the Improv, running from 1982 until 1996, and was produced by Larry O'Daly, created by O'Daly and Barbara Hosie-O'Daly, with Budd Friedman as a warm-up host. Other locations have opened since then, such as in Tampa, Florida, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Louisville, Kentucky. LEG, formerly known as Levity Entertainment Group, is the largest shareholder of The Improv comedy clubs.
William Michael "Bil" Dwyer is an American stand-up comedian, game show host, actor, and writer. He is perhaps most well known as the host or play-by-play announcer on series such as BattleBots,I've Got a Secret, and Extreme Dodgeball, as well as several iterations of VH1's I Love the '70s, I Love the '80s, and I Love the '90s, and a 2006 appearance on Last Comic Standing. His debut comedy album, Am I Yelling?, was released in September 2020 by comedy label Stand Up! Records.

The Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena is a temporary outdoor concert venue located in Stateline, Nevada near Lake Tahoe. The venue is located on the grounds of Harveys Lake Tahoe, in the south parking lot behind the parking garage. Opening in 1992, the temporary structure has been the home to several musical events, including the long-running "Harveys Summer Concert Series".
