Huang Yubin (Chinese :黃玉斌, born February 5, 1958) is the head coach of the Men's Artistic Gymnastics Team of China. In 1970, Huang Yubin was selected as a gymnast for the Liaoning province team. Four years later, he made it to the national team. He won a gold medal on rings in the World Cup in 1980. It was the first time that a Chinese man won a gold medal in gymnastics.

Chinese is a group of related, but in many cases not mutually intelligible, language varieties, forming the Sinitic branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family. Chinese is spoken by the ethnic Chinese majority and many minority ethnic groups in China. About 1.2 billion people speak some form of Chinese as their first language.

Liaoning is a province located in the northeastern part of China, being the smallest but the most populous province in the region. The modern Liaoning province was established in 1907 as Fengtian or Fengtien province and was renamed Liaoning in 1929, also known as Mukden Province at the time for the Manchu pronunciation of Shengjing, the former name of the provincial capital Shenyang. Under the Japanese-puppet Manchukuo regime, the province reverted to its 1907 name, but the name Liaoning was restored in 1945 and again in 1954.

After the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Huang Yubin retired from gymnastics and studied at the Beijing Sports University, where he could only study for a semester since the national team needed more coaches. He went back to the gym and started his coaching career with the women's team.

In his 20 years of coaching the national team, 15 of his pupils won world championships and Olympic gold medals, thus earning him the tag of the "Gold Medal Coach". He is known for his high standards and has helped many gymnasts win world championships, Fan Di was his first "world champion pupil", while she won the gold medal on uneven bars in the 1989 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Before that, many people doubted his ability as a coach.

Fan Di is a former Chinese artistic gymnast. She was the 1989 World Champion on the uneven bars, and was only the second Chinese female gymnast to become a World Champion after Ma Yanhong in 1979. She also won a bronze medal with her team at those World Championships. In 1987, Fan competed at the World Championships where the Chinese team finished in fourth. Individually, she finished 20th in the all-around and sixth on bars. Fan represented China at the 1988 Summer Olympics where China was sixth in the team final, and Fan finished 20th in the all-around final. Fan Di's final competition before retirement was the 1990 Asian Games. She won gold with her team and on the uneven bars.

The 25th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships were held in Stuttgart, West Germany, in 1989 from October 14 to October 22.

Having proven himself as a coach par excellence over three years in women's team, he started coaching the men's team. At the very beginning, some of his pupils didn't accept his training methods. They finally understood the coach when they were on the podium. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Li Xiaoshuang won the men's all-around gold. From that year, his students better grasped his style of teaching.

Li Xiaoshuang is a Chinese gymnast and Olympic champion.

He had led the men's team in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where Chinese gymnasts won the men's team golds in both events.

Zhang Nan is a former artistic gymnast from China. Zhang was a member of the Chinese team for the 2004 Olympic Games, as well as the 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is one of China's most successful female gymnasts and was the first Chinese woman to medal in an all-around competition at the World Championships.

Cheng Fei is a retired Chinese gymnast. She is a three-time World Champion on the vault (2005–2007) and 2006 World Champion on floor exercise. She was a member of the gold medal-winning Chinese teams for the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Aarhus, Denmark and 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She was also a member of the silver medal-winning Chinese team for the 2007 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

Chen Yibing is a Chinese gymnast, a four-time world champion on still rings. Chen was part of the Chinese team that won the gold medal in the team event at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011 and the Asian Games in 2006 and 2010. Since his international debut at the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, he was almost unbeatable on his specialist event, still rings, except to his teammate Yan Mingyong in 2009 and the Brazilian Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He became the 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011 world champions on still rings.

Zou Kai is a five-time Olympic and five-time World champion Chinese gymnast, specializing in floor exercise and the horizontal bar.

Steliana Nistor is a Romanian former artistic gymnast. She was a key member of the Romanian team between 2006 and 2008, where she helped the Romania win team bronze medals at the 2007 World Championships and the 2008 Olympics. Individually, she is the 2007 world all-around and beam silver medallist, the 2007 and 2008 European silver medallist on the uneven bars and the 2007 bronze medallist on the balance beam. Nistor was a strong all-around competitor but her best events were balance beam and uneven bars.

Yuri Sergeyevich Ryazanov was a Russian artistic gymnast. He was the 2009 World All-Around bronze medalist, the 2009 Russian All-Around national champion, and the 2007 & 2009 European All-Around bronze medalist. He was a member of the Russian teams that won the gold medals at the 2008 European Men's Artistic Gymnastics Championships and silver at the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Ryazanov competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, placing 17th in the All-Around qualification.

He Kexin is a Chinese former artistic gymnast who competed at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, she won gold medals on the uneven bars and as a member of the Chinese team. She was one of only a few gymnasts to score over 17.00 under the 2005–2008 Code of Points, and her 7.7 difficulty score on bars in 2008 was one of the highest in the world.

Kōhei Uchimura is a Japanese gymnast. He is a seven-time Olympic medalist, winning three golds and four silvers, a twenty-one-time World medalist and considered by many in the sport to be the greatest gymnast of all time. He is known for being the first gymnast to win every major all-around title in an entire single Olympic cycle, accomplishing this feat twice by winning six world and two Olympic individual all-around titles. Uchimura is also 2008 Olympic individual all-around silver medalist. He is also known for delivering difficult and accurately executed routines. The International Gymnast Magazine had praised his skills as a "combination of tremendous difficulty, supreme consistency and extraordinary elegance of performance."

Sui Lu is a retired Chinese gymnast. She started competing at the senior international level in 2008, and won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics. Her strongest events were the balance beam, where she was the 2011 World Champion and 2012 Olympic Silver Medalist, and the floor exercise, where she won two World Championship medals.

The 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Tokyo, Japan, from October 7–16, 2011, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Due to uncertainty over the nuclear situation following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the International Federation of Gymnastics revealed it was considering moving the event, but on May 22 FIG president Bruno Grandi announced that the World Championships would take place in Tokyo as planned.

Oleg Yuriyovych Vernyayev is a Ukrainian artistic gymnast. He is the 2016 Olympic parallel bars champion and individual all-around silver medalist. Vernyayev is also the 2014 World parallel bars champion, the 2015 European individual all-around champion and the 2017 European individual all-around champion.

Huang Huidan is a Chinese artistic gymnast. She is the 2013 world uneven bars champion and 2014 world uneven bars silver medalist. She represents Zhejiang in domestic competitions.

Artistic gymnastics is widely regarded as an underrated and growing sport in the United States, with a smaller, largely female, fan following. In the modern era of women's artistic gymnastics, the United States is regarded as one of the leaders in the sport.
