Christopher Michael Hulvey (born January 13, 1999), [1] known professionally by his surname Hulvey, is an American Christian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. [2] His debut studio album Christopher debuted and peaked at No.8 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.

Musical career

Hulvey was born and raised in Brunswick, Georgia. He dropped out of college and moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in music. He supported his music aspirations by working at a local supermarket where his job responsibilities included "scrubbing toilets [and] cleaning floors." In August 2019, Hulvey signed a contract with Reach Records which was made public in January 2020. [3] His first release with the label was an EP titled Prelude then a month later he followed up with another EP titled BRKNHRT. [4]

In addition to his solo work, Hulvey was featured on two songs ("Restored" and "Celebrate More") from Lecrae's album Restoration and also received writing credits for two additional songs on the album ("Set Me Free" and "Over the Top"). [5] [6] Hulvey was also featured on the 116 Clique song "Live Forever" (which recently passed 1 million views on YouTube) [7] and on Jordan Feliz's song "Glorify" alongside his labelmate Lecrae. Lastly, Hulvey was the opening act during the Social Club Misfits tour in early 2020. [8]

In 2021, his debut album Christopher landed at No. #8 on Billboard Top Christian/Gospel Albums chart, [9] #19 at Rap Albums chart, only one week after its release. [10] That same year, he released an eight track EP titled COMA. The following year, he released a standalone single "Beautiful". Also in 2021, Hulvey was featured on a song titled "Higher Power" by Crowder. [11]

In 2023, he was featured in a song with Forrest Frank of Surfaces called "No Longer Bound". The song reached #2 on the U.S. Viral 50 Chart on Spotify [12] and #19 on the Billboard Hot Christian Songs.

Tours

In 2023, Hulvey announced his first nationwide tour, The Beautiful Tour, named after his July 2022 single "Beautiful." The Beautiful Tour was a major success, selling out multiple shows in cities across the United States.

Centered on release and freedoms from inhibiting addictions and habits, Rehab is a highly conceptual album. Rehab is nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album at the 53rd Grammy Awards. The album was named the Best Album of 2010 in the "Best of 2010: Rapzilla.com's Staff Picks" awards, and Lecrae was also named Artist of the Year. The song "Background" and the album itself were nominated for Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year and Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year, respectively, at the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Church Clothes is the first mixtape by Christian hip hop artist Lecrae, released for free on May 10, 2012, and hosted by DJ Don Cannon. It featured No Malice of Clipse on the song "Darkest Hour", and included production work by 9th Wonder, Boi-1da, S1 and Street Symphony. Label-mates Tedashii and Andy Mineo, as well as other fellow Christian hip-hop artists such as Dre Murray, Thi'sl, Swoope, Christon Gray, and Braille, also made appearances on the album. The mixtape was downloaded 100,000 times in 48 hours, and met with critical acclaim. It received controversy in Christian media upon its release due to its condemnation of hypocrisy in the Christian Church and Lecrae's collaboration with the mainstream producer Don Cannon. A shorter, remastered EP version was released on iTunes on June 25, 2012. The EP debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Christian Albums and Gospel Albums charts.

Kevin Elijah Burgess, better known by his stage name KB, is an American Christian hip hop artist and music executive from St. Petersburg, Florida. He is the leader of the hip-hop group HGA. Burgess signed a solo artist contract to Reach Records in 2010. The label has released the Who Is KB? mixtape in 2011, Weight & Glory, on July 17, 2012, the 100 EP on March 4, 2014, Tomorrow We Live on April 21, 2015, and Today We Rebel on October 20, 2017. Reach Records is an American independent record label specializing in Christian hip hop. The label was founded in 2004 by Ben Washer and the hip-hop artist Lecrae. In addition to Lecrae, the Reach Records roster contains artists like Tedashii, Trip Lee, Andy Mineo, 1K Phew, WHATUPRG, Wande, Hulvey, and Limoblaze. The hip-hop collective 116 operates under the label and consists primarily of the label's solo acts. The artists Sho Baraka, Derek Minor, Aha Gazelle, KB and Gawvi were formerly signed to the label, and DJ Official was under the label until his death.

Social Club Misfits, known as Social Club from 2012 until 2016, is a Christian hip hop duo from Miami, Florida made up of rappers FERN and Marty Mar. They formed their musical partnership in 2011 and released their first free album, entitled Misfits, on November 27, 2012. Then, the duo released two EPs entitled Misfits-EP, released on March 26, 2013, and Rejects. on April 2, 2013. The latter garnering some charting success. The third free album from the duo came out on September 13, 2013, entitled Summer of George. Their breakthrough album, Misfits 2, was self-released on April 29, 2014, and Us was released on March 24, 2015.

Anomaly is the seventh studio album by American Christian hip hop artist Lecrae, released on September 9, 2014, through Reach Records. The album features appearances from Crystal Nicole, Kari Jobe, and For King & Country, along with label-mate Andy Mineo. Anomaly met with a positive critical reception, and the song "Nuthin", released for streaming as a single on July 1, 2014, was nominated for the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards in the best Impact Track category. The album also fared well commercially, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 88,000 copies sold. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart, marking the first time that any artist has ever topped both the 200 and Gospel charts. The collective formed in 2005 under the auspices of Reach Records, and released its first album, The Compilation Album, that year on December 27. The following year, a remixed version of the album by DJ Primo was released on July 6. A third album, 13 Letters, followed on June 19, 2007, which charted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart and No. 29 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart, as well as the remix EP Amped on August 28. <i>Sin Vergüenza</i> (116 album) 2020 compilation album by 116 Clique

Sin Vergüenza is the first album entirely in Spanish by 116 Clique, produced and distributed by Reach Records, in association with No Apologies Music, the label of Puerto Rican producer Cardec Drums. It was announced to be released at the end of October 2020, and was promoted with two singles: "Donde están (Watcho6)", between Reach artists and other Latin rappers, and "La Fiesta" by Lecrae and Funky. In 2021, it was known that Reach would be in charge of the soundtrack of the Netflix movie, Blue Miracle, where it is composed of a large part of the musical pieces of this album.

Jacob Cardec, artistically known as Cardec Drums, is a Puerto Rican drummer, music producer and songwriter, specializing in Christian urban music who has worked with artists from Reach Records, Reflection Music Group and Funkytown Music. He has received various awards for his work with KB, Lecrae, Redimi2, Almighty and Andy Mineo.

Mark Babatunde professionally known as Happi or HappiMusic is a British-Nigerian singer, music producer, songwriter and composer. He is best known for "Jireh " with Limoblaze and Lecrae, which won several awards and appeared on the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Songs of 2022.
