The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is a public research university in Hong Kong. Founded in 1911, its origins trace back to the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, which was founded in 1887. It is the oldest tertiary institution in Hong Kong. Also, HKU is the first university established by the British Empire in East Asia. HKU has always been the best university in Hong Kong and one of the best universities in Asia.
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public research university located in Hung Hom, Hong Kong. The history of PolyU can be traced back to 1937. It became a fully accredited university in 1994 and is one of the government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions.

The Hong Kong 1 July protests is an annual protest rally originally held by the Civil Human Rights Front from the day of handover in 1997 on the HKSAR establishment day. However, it was not until 2003 that the march drew large public attention by opposing the legislation of Basic Law Article 23. The 2003 protest, with 500,000 marchers, was the second-largest protest seen in Hong Kong since the 1997 handover.
The University of London Worldwide is the central academic body that manages external study programmes within the federal University of London. Polytechnic University of the Philippines is a research and coeducational state university in the Philippines. It was founded on October 19, 1904 as the Manila Business School (MBS) and as part of Manila's public school system. It was eventually promoted to chartered state university in 1978, by virtue of Presidential Decree 1341. PUP has more than 20 campuses and extensions across Central Luzon, Southern Luzon and Metro Manila. With over 70,000 enrolled students, PUP claims to be the largest state university in the Philippines by student population.

Pakistanis in Hong Kong are an ethnic minority in Hong Kong numbering 18,094 persons according to the 2016 Official Census. In the 2011 census 17,253 people held Pakistani nationality however this number has since decreased to 15,234 in the 2016 census
The Hong Kong 818 incident was a case of alleged civil rights violations that occurred on 18 August 2011 at the University of Hong Kong during a visit by Li Keqiang, the then-Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China. His arrival at the school led to a lock-down and complete takeover of the school by the Hong Kong Police force. Controversy arose as a result of claims by the media and students that their rights had been violated.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Centennial Year is a yearlong celebration in 2004 celebrating the centenary of the establishment of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It was celebrated throughout the system. Colleges and other schools have celebrated their anniversaries in accordance to theme of the Centennial Year: "PUP: Kabalikat sa Pag-aangat ng Antas ng Buhay ng Mamamayan".
