The San Luis Valley is a region in south-central Colorado with a small portion overlapping into New Mexico. The valley is approximately 122 miles (196 km) long and 74 miles (119 km) wide, extending from the Continental Divide on the northwest rim into New Mexico on the south. It contains 6 counties and portions of 3 others. It is an extensive high-altitude depositional basin of approximately 8,000 square miles (21,000 km2) with an average elevation of 7,664 feet (2,336 m) above sea level. The valley is a section of the Rio Grande Rift and is drained to the south by the Rio Grande, which rises in the San Juan Mountains to the west of the valley and flows south into New Mexico. The San Luis Valley has a cold desert climate but has substantial water resources from the Rio Grande and groundwater.
Alamosa is a home rule municipality and the county seat of Alamosa County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 9,806 at the 2020 United States Census. The city is the commercial center of the San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado, and is the home of Adams State University.

The Lamar Boulevard Bridge is a historic arch bridge carrying Texas State Highway Loop 343 over Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, Texas, United States. The bridge features six open-spandrel concrete arches spanning 659 feet (201 m) and carries tens of thousands of vehicles daily across the lake. Completed in 1942, the Lamar Boulevard Bridge was the second permanent bridge to cross the Colorado River, and one of the last Art Deco-style open-spandrel concrete arch bridges built in Texas. The bridge was named an Austin Landmark in 1993 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
The Pearl Street School is a historic school building at 75 Pearl Street in Reading, Massachusetts. Built in 1939, the two-story brick and limestone building is Reading's only structure built as part of a Public Works Administration project. The site on which it was built was acquired by the town sometime before 1848, and served as its poor farm. With fifteen classrooms, the school replaced three smaller wood-frame schoolhouses in the town's school system, and was its first fire-resistant structure.
West Vernor–Junction Historic District is a commercial historic district located along West Vernor Highway between Lansing and Cavalry in Detroit, Michigan. The district includes 160 acres (0.65 km2) and 44 buildings. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

The Eighth and Broadway Historic District is one of the seven national historic districts located in Columbia, Missouri. The district is made up of three contributing properties and is located at the intersection of Eighth and Broadway Streets in Downtown Columbia. They consist of the Beaux-Arts style Miller Building (1910), the Italianate style Matthews Hardware, and the Art Deco style Metropolitan Building. Today, the area holds loft apartments and several local business including Rally House, Sycamore, Peace Nook, and Geisha.

Black Mountain Downtown Historic District is a national historic district located at Black Mountain, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 56 contributing buildings and 1 contributing structure in the central business district of Black Mountain. The district includes a variety of late-19th and early-20th century commercial and institutional buildings in the Commercial Style, American Craftsman, Classical Revival, Art Deco and Art Moderne. Notable buildings include the George Stepp House (1907), Black Mountain Depot (1909), firehouse (1921) designed by Richard Sharp Smith, town hall (1927), Kaltman Building (1928), and Pure Oil Service Station.
The Bolduc Block, also known as the Majestic Theater, is a historic commercial and theatrical building at 36 Main Street in Conway, New Hampshire. Built in 1923, it was the community's first theater. It is also a good local example of Art Deco architecture, a style uncommon in northern New Hampshire, fire damage to its interior. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016, and the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2015. It is presently owned by the Mountain Top Music Center.

The byway explores the historic San Luis Valley of south-central Colorado including Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve; the Old Spanish National Historic Trail; historic Fort Garland, San Luis (San Luis de la Culebra), the oldest town in Colorado; and the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.
The Boulder County Courthouse is a historic building on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado, built in 1933. The courthouse is a contributing property to the Downtown Boulder Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. In 2018, additional information about the building was added to the documentation of the district.
