Paralympic football consists of adaptations of the sport of association football for athletes with a physical disability. These sports are typically played using International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rules, with modifications to the field of play, equipment, numbers of players, and other rules as required to make the game suitable for the athletes.
The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) is a non-profit organisation founded 1981 in Paris, France. It was formerly known as the International Blind Sports Association. IBSA's mission is to promote the full integration of blind and partially-sighted people in society through sport and to encourage people with a visual impairment to take up and practise sports. IBSA is a full and founding member of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Torball is a team sport for the blind and vision-impaired and was developed in the 1970s in central Europe. With some similar structures in the rules in the 1980s, it is different to the Paralympic Games team sport of goalball. The sport was recognised by International Blind Sports Federation in 2010.
The European Masters Games (EMG) is a multi-sport event, consisting of summer sports, held every four years. The European Masters Games are owned by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), owners of the World Masters Games. The age categories vary depending on the sport, but the competition is generally for people 30–35 years or older. The first games were held in 2008 in Malmö, Sweden. The European Masters Games are held once every four years, while the last games were held in 2015 in Nice, France. The next games will be celebrated in Turin, Italy, in 2019. The International Masters Games Association (IMGA), based in Lausanne, Switzerland, is the body responsible for the bidding and placing of the games.

Football 5-a-side, more commonly known as Blind football or Blind football, is a variation of association football designed for players who are blind or visually impaired. Turkey has qualified to send athletes to the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. Sports the country qualified to compete in include 5-a-side football, archery, goalball, and wheelchair basketball.

Blind football is played in Australia. The sport was introduced in the country in Victoria in 2014 as a result of Blind Sports Victoria creating a blind football development program. A regional blind football league was created in Victoria in 2015. The following year, the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) held a workshop in Melbourne, which was attended by representatives from blind sport organizations in New South Wales. Blind football continued to develop in 2017, governance of the sport was transferred to Blind Sports Australia who wanted to create a national team and develop the sport outside Victoria. That year also saw Australia get is first IBSA recognized blind football referees. In 2018, a talent development search took place in Sydney.

The competition is being held at Kochi, India, will all matches being played at the United Sports Center between 9 November and 20 November 2022.
The 2015 IBSA World Games was held from 8 to 18 June 2015, in Seoul, South Korea.
