The IFA Framo V 901 was a Light commercial vehicle produced by Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau from 1951 to 1954, as a replacement for the DKW F8 Kastenwagen, which was a sedan delivery version of the DKW F8 passenger vehicle, and the Framo V 501 truck, until it was modernized as the nearly identical Barkas V 901/2 cargo truck.
The vehicle was available in many bodystyles, including a panel van, a pickup truck, and was also used in many special variants, such as a police van, a box truck, and a minibus, although these were mostly produced in limited numbers.
When developing this model, the main objective was to find a more powerful engine for the 501/2 model that had been produced until that time. The principle of the double piston engine was abandoned for reasons of rational production. The 0.9-liter engine of the IFA F9, a conventional three-cylinder, was used. However, its output had to be reduced to 18 kW in order to avoid overloading the gearbox and the chassis, which had been adopted unchanged from it's predecessor. Nevertheless, there was now strength available that was sufficient to safely handle the possible payload. Externally, the vehicle remained almost unchanged compared to its predecessor. Even the free-standing headlights were retained. The Framo was not alone in this category on the international market, since various pre-war models were produced during this period, such as the Fordson E83W.
Exports to the Netherlands and Belgium had already started in 1951. In 1952, the operation of the four-wheel brake was switched from cable to hydraulic. A modernization of the exterior occurred in 1954 with further development to the V 901/2. The number of these vehicles produced, increased but remained quite low overall. It was the first passenger car to be manufactured by the new Auto Union company in West Germany following the re-establishment of the business in the west in 1949.
The DKW F8 compact front-wheel drive two-stroke engined saloon was introduced in 1939. The F8 was slightly shorter than its predecessor despite having a marginally increased wheelbase. The base model, known as the Reichsklasse, was manufactured only till 1940 but the Meisterklasse sedan continued in production until 1942. In addition to the saloons, cabriolet versions were offered.

The Wartburg 311 was a car produced by East German car manufacturer VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach from 1956 to 1965. Originally, the vehicle was called the IFA V 901/2; this name was changed to Barkas V 901/2 in 1957. The V 901/2 is a body-on-frame vehicle with a front engine, and rear-wheel drive, that was available in several different body styles, including pickup trucks, minibusses, and panel vans. It succeeded the IFA Framo V 901, and was itself succeeded by the Barkas B 1000.
The Framo V 500 was a light commercial vehicle produced by Framo from 1939 to 1940, as the company's first true automobile. It was eventually modernized as the Framo V 501 in 1941. The vehicle replaced the commercial and station wagon versions of the DKW F7 passenger vehicle, that was produced since 1937.
