III Gymnasium Osijek (Croatian : III. gimnazija Osijek) is a high school in Osijek, Croatia.
Slavonia is, with Dalmatia, Croatia proper, and Istria, one of the four historical regions of Croatia. Taking up the east of the country, it roughly corresponds with five Croatian counties: Brod-Posavina, Osijek-Baranja, Požega-Slavonia, Virovitica-Podravina, and Vukovar-Syrmia, although the territory of the counties includes Baranya, and the definition of the western extent of Slavonia as a region varies. The counties cover 12,556 square kilometres or 22.2% of Croatia, inhabited by 806,192—18.8% of Croatia's population. The largest city in the region is Osijek, followed by Slavonski Brod and Vinkovci.
Osijek is the fourth-largest city in Croatia, with a population of 108,048 in 2011. It is the largest city and the economic and cultural centre of the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia, as well as the administrative centre of Osijek-Baranja County. Osijek is located on the right bank of the Drava River, 25 km (16 mi) upstream of its confluence with the Danube, at an elevation of 94 m (308 ft).
Tvrđa (Citadel) is the old town of the city of Osijek in Croatia. It is the best-preserved and largest ensemble of Baroque buildings in Croatia and consists of a Habsburg star fort built on the right bank of the River Drava. Tvrđa has been described by the World Monuments Fund as "a unique example of an eighteenth-century baroque military, administrative, and commercial urban center".

Jurica Vranješ is a Croatian former professional footballer. He was described as versatile midfielder, playing both as a defensive and a central midfielder, noted for his tackling and passing abilities.
Robert Špehar is a Croatian football coach and a former international footballer who played as a striker. During his 18 years long senior career he played for Croatian Prva HNL teams NK Zagreb and NK Osijek in three occasions. In Belgium he played for Club Brugge with whom he won Belgian First Division and Belgian Cup. He also played for AS Monaco reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, Verona, Sporting, Galatasaray, Standard Liège, before ending his career at Omonia with Cypriot Cup title. At international level he represented Croatia gaining 10 caps over a five-year period, between 1992–1996 and was a member of their 1996 King Hassan II International Cup Tournament winning squad. He is the father of a footballer Dino Špehar who just like him started his professional career at NK Osijek, at the same time that Robert was in office as club's president. Robert's father and Dino's grandfather was a well-known football goalkeeper of NK Osijek in the 1960s. Most recently he coached Croatian lower-league side NK Višnjevac with whom he achieved promotion to Treća HNL division East.
The Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, commonly known as the University of Osijek (UNIOS), is a public university based in Osijek, Croatia. Established in 1975, it is the flagship institution of higher education in Slavonia, and one of the largest and oldest universities in Croatia.
The history of the Jews in Croatia dates back to at least the 3rd century, although little is known of the community until the 10th and 15th centuries. By the outbreak of World War II, the community numbered approximately 20,000 members, most of whom were murdered during the Holocaust that took place on the territory of the Nazi puppet state called Independent State of Croatia. After World War II, half of the survivors chose to settle in Israel, while an estimated 2,500 members continued to live in Croatia. According to the 2011 census, there were 509 Jews living in Croatia, but that number is believed to exclude those born of mixed marriages or those married to non-Jews. More than 80 percent of the Zagreb Jewish Community were thought to fall in those two categories.

The Battle of Osijek was the artillery bombardment of the Croatian city of Osijek by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) which took place from August 1991 to June 1992 during the Croatian War of Independence. Shelling peaked in late November and December 1991, then diminished in 1992 after the Vance plan was accepted by the combatants. Airstrikes and attacks by JNA infantry and armored units against targets in the city accompanied the bombardment, which caused approximately 800 deaths and resulted in a large portion of the city's population leaving. Croatian sources estimated that 6,000 artillery shells were fired against Osijek over the period.
Gymnasium Vukovar is a secondary school (gymnasium) in Vukovar in eastern Croatia. Gymnasium Vukovar curriculum is divided into three specializations with the first one being general social science, the second one science and the third one languages. Classes are held separately in Croatian and Serbian language, both of which are standardized varieties of Serbo-Croatian. In the school year 2007/2008, 384 students were enrolled. Of these, there were 248 female and 136 male students.
Gymnasium Županja is a secondary school (gymnasium) situated in Županja, Croatia. The school was established by the authorities of the Socialist Republic of Croatia in 1954. Gymnasium Županja carries the educational programs of general secondary school, science, and language direction. Classes are taught in Croatian. The school is an important educational institution for the town of Županja, neighboring or nearby municipalities of Štitar, Bošnjaci, Gradište, Babina Greda and the Cvelferija region. In 2020 the school received 40,000 Croatian kuna from the Marin Čilić Fund for the equipment for the chemistry lab. The School cooperate with the local social security office, local voluntary centre in Županja and with the B.a.B.e. organization from Zagreb in organization of cultural activities and holiday gifts for youth with fewer opportunities.
