Symphonic metal is a cross-generic style designation for the symphonic subsets of heavy metal music subgenres. It is used to denote any metal band that makes use of symphonic or orchestral elements. The style features the heavy drums and guitars of metal with different elements of orchestral classical music, such as symphonic instruments, choirs and sometimes a full orchestra, or just keyboard orchestration.

Lorna Shore is an American deathcore band formed in New Jersey in 2009. The group currently consists of lead guitarist Adam De Micco, drummer Austin Archey, rhythm guitarist Andrew O'Connor, vocalist Will Ramos, and bassist Michael Yager. The band is most known for their 2021 single "To the Hellfire". They have released four studio albums Psalms (2015), Flesh Coffin (2017), Immortal (2020), and Pain Remains (2022). The band has also released four EPs. Since 2011, no original members remain in the band, with the longest-running member being Adam De Micco since joining in 2010. Lorna Shore has been referred to as one of the "big four" bands of symphonic deathcore, along with Shadow of Intent, Mental Cruelty, and A Wake in Providence.
Enterprise Earth is an American deathcore band from Spokane, Washington. The band was formed in mid-2014 by former members Dan Watson and BJ Sampson on vocals and guitars respectively. At the beginning of the spring, the band finalised their deal with Attila frontman, Chris Fronzak, and moved to his record label Stay Sick Recordings, leaving former label We Are Triumphant. Since the departure of Watson in 2022, no original members remain in the band, with guitarist Gabe Mangold being its longest tenured member since joining in 2017.
Curse of the Crystal Coconut is the sixth studio album by Scottish heavy metal band Alestorm. It was released on 29 May 2020 via Napalm Records. The album was recorded at Krabi Road, Thailand with the band's long-time producer Lasse Lammert. Shadow of Intent is an American deathcore band from Connecticut. They formed in 2013 as a Halo-themed studio project by Ben Duerr and Chris Wiseman. The band's name is a reference to a Covenant ship in the Halo series. They are not signed to a label and have released all their albums independently. They have released four studio albums to date, along with two instrumental versions of previous releases, and a deluxe album. Their fourth studio album, Elegy, was released independently on January 14, 2022. Shadow of Intent has been described as one of the "big four" bands of symphonic deathcore, alongside Lorna Shore, Mental Cruelty, and A Wake in Providence.
Primordial is the debut album by American deathcore band Shadow of Intent. The album was released on January 10, 2016. It is the band's only studio album to be a two-piece and to feature programmed drums. The tracks "The Prelude to Bereavement", "The Shaping Sickness", "The Cosmic Inquisitor", "The Last Bastion" and "The Indexing" were all originally on the band's 2014 debut EP Inferi Sententia, and were re-recorded for this album. The album is compiled as an instrumental edition along with their second studio album Reclaimer on the album The Instrumentals, released on October 20, 2017.
Reclaimer is the second album by deathcore band Shadow of Intent. The album was released on April 28, 2017. It is their first album without programmed drum tracks and the first album to feature a unique player on each instrument, with a one-off lineup that includes Matt Kohanowski on drums, Federico Zuccarelli on guitar and Keith Kohlhepp on bass. It reached #4 on the iTunes metal chart at debut. It was described by MetalSucks as "nothing short of a triumph of symphonic deathcore".
Melancholy is the third album by deathcore band Shadow of Intent. The album was released on August 16, 2019. It is their first album with Andrew Monias on bass, and their only album with Anthony Barone on drums before he was replaced by Bryce Butler of Contrarian. Melancholy marked a departure from writing strictly Halo-themed music, instead being what has been described as a concept album depicting mass suicides orchestrated by a demonic goddess. An instrumental version of Melancholy was also released on November 22, 2019.

The band currently consists of vocalist Adam Mercer, guitarist/vocalist D'Andre Tyre, guitarist Jordan Felion and drummer Jessie McEnneny. The band has released four studio albums with their latest being I Write to You, My Darling Decay, released on July 26, 2024, through Unique Leader Records. The band has also released two EPs. Lorna Shore vocalist Will Ramos was the band's former vocalist from 2016 to 2018. Shadow of Intent vocalist Ben Duerr was a guest in two tracks by A Wake in Providence. Those three bands and Mental Cruelty make up what is considered the "big four" of the new wave of symphonic deathcore.
Elegy is the fourth album by deathcore band Shadow of Intent. The album was released on January 14, 2022. It is their first album with drummer Bryce Butler of Contrarian. The album was ultimately met with great critical acclaim. A deluxe edition of the album was released digitally on September 9, 2022. An orchestral version of the album titled Elegy: The Soundtrack was released on March 8, 2024.
A Night in Texas is an Australian deathcore band formed in 2009 in Cairns, Queensland, however has been based in Brisbane since 2013. The band's lineup currently consists of vocalist Sam Cameron, guitarists Cory Judd and Tommy Williams, bassist David Finlay and drummer Zak Borg.
Death: An Anthology is the fifth studio album by American deathcore band Enterprise Earth, the album was released on February 2, 2024, through MNRK Music. It is the band's first album to feature vocalist Travis Worland and bassist Dakota Johnson and it is the band's final album to feature drummer Brandon Zackey as he would depart from the band in August 2024 to join Whitechapel. It is also the band's first album to not feature any original members following the departure of original vocalist Dan Watson in April 2022. An instrumental version of the album was released on May 3, 2024.

The band have released four studio albums with their latest being Zwielicht, released on June 23, 2023 through Century Media Records. They have also released one EP and one demo. Mental Cruelty are currently signed to Century Media Records. They are considered one of the "big four" symphonic deathcore bands along with Shadow of Intent, Lorna Shore, and A Wake in Providence.
Vulvodynia is a South African deathcore band formed in 2014 in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The band's lineup currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Lwandile Prusent, guitarists Luke Haarhoff and Kris Xenopoulos and drummer Thomas Hughes. The band have currently released five studio albums with their latest being Entabeni released on July 5, 2024, through Unique Leader Records. They have also released three EPs and three split EPs. They are currently signed to Unique Leader Records.
Eternity is the third album by American deathcore band A Wake in Providence, released on October 21, 2022. The album's announcement on August 11, 2022 came with a new single titled "The Horror ov the Old Gods". A music video was released for another single, "We Are Eternity".
