Ian Barkley (born 8 August 1961) is a former Australian professional rugby league player. Although primarily a second-row forward, he also played as a lock, centre and winger. Barkley made 84 appearances and scored 25 tries in the NSWRL for the Eastern Suburbs (1981–83) and Manly Warringah (1984–88). [1] [2]

The Country New South Wales rugby league team is a representative rugby league football team. Between 1987 and 2017 there were two tiers: the Origin team that consisted of professional players who originated from clubs of the Country Rugby League and a representative team of amateur and semi-professional players. The Country Origin team played annually in the City vs Country Origin competition against the City New South Wales rugby league team, which was made up of players originating from Sydney. This match was discontinued in 2017.

The 1981 Eastern Suburbs Roosters season was the 74th in the club's history. Coached by Bob Fulton and captained by Royce Ayliffe, they played in the pre-season 1981 Craven Mild Cup, which they won and also in the 1981 Tooth Cup. The Roosters competed in the NSWRFL's 1981 premiership, finishing the regular season 1st to claim the minor premiership. They then came within one match of the grand final but were knocked out by the Newtown Jets.

The first full international played by the team was in June 2021.

The Group 19 Rugby League (1974-1979) was a rugby league competition, held in the area around Canberra, the broader Australian Capital Territory and Southern New South Wales. The competition merged with Group 8 in 1979 to form the ACTRL and Canberra District Rugby League, which again combined to form the Canberra Division system in 1982.
