Ice-Pick Lodge is a Russian video game developer based in Moscow, founded in 2002 by Nikolay Dybowski. The studio became known in Russia after releasing its first project Pathologic . [1]

Awards

In 2005, Pathologic won several awards in Russia. These being: “Game of the Year” by the Best Computer Games magazine, “Best Russian Game of the Year” by Gameslife And “Best Debut of the Year” by Playground. It was also listed in Ixbt as being one of their top 5 games of the year, and in Igromania as one of their top 3, alongside Half-Life 2 and GTA:San Andreas. [28] Both Pathologic and The Void won the "Most Non-Standard Game" award at the Russian Game Developers Conference in 2005 and 2007, respectively. [3] [7] Pathologic 2 won the “Excellence in Game Design”, “Excellence in Game Narrative” and “Best Desktop Game” awards at DEVgamm 2019. It was also the conference’s Grand Prize winner. [29]

The first installment of the Wasteland series, it is set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic America destroyed by a nuclear holocaust generations before. Shadow Warrior is a first-person shooter video game developed by 3D Realms and published by GT Interactive. Shadow Warrior was developed using Ken Silverman's Build engine and improved on 3D Realms' previous Build engine game, Duke Nukem 3D. Mark Adams ported Shadow Warrior to Mac OS in August 1997.

<i>Postal</i> (video game) 1997 video game

Postal is a 1997 isometric top-down shooter video game developed by Running with Scissors and published by Ripcord Games. A sequel to the game, Postal 2, was released in 2003. Two additional sequels, Postal III and Postal 4: No Regerts, were released in 2011 and 2022, respectively. Director Uwe Boll bought the movie rights for the series and produced a film of the same name. A March 2001 re-release of the game, called Postal Plus, included a "Special Delivery" add-on. A remake of the game, Postal Redux, was released for Microsoft Windows on May 20, 2016, and was later released for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch digital stores. At the end of 2016, the game's source code was released under the GNU GPL-2.0-only. At the end of 2019, Running With Scissors released the game as freeware.

<i>Pathologic</i> 2005 video game

Pathologic is a 2005 survival game developed by Russian studio Ice-Pick Lodge. The game was released in Russia by Buka Entertainment in June 2005, followed by a localised English release from G2 Games and GMX Games in 2006. An updated version, Pathologic Classic HD, was developed by General Arcade, published by Good Shepard Entertainment, and released in October 2015. A remake was developed by Ice-Pick Lodge using the Unity game engine and released as Pathologic 2 in May 2019 by tinyBuild.

The Russian Game Developers' Conference, or KRI, was an annual event for industry professionals devoted to game development, publishing and distribution in Russia and surrounding territories. The show also featured the presentation of the annual KRI awards, a professional game awards. Attendance at KRI was relatively compared with some of the better-known game developer conferences abroad. However, this was mainly attributed to the population densities in the enormous geographic range that the conference covered and the difficulties in transportation. Back then Russian distribution video game networks were often plagued by software pirates. Due to the spread of digital distribution and the adoption Russian anti-piracy legislation, KRI grew each year, having been able to provide accommodation for attendants from afar. KRI also helped to establish and entrench various anti-piracy measures.

Devotion is a first-person psychological horror video game developed by Red Candle Games. It is set in Taiwan in the 1980s, with a majority of the game happening in an apartment complex in Taipei. The game also incorporates elements based on Taiwanese culture and folk religion. The game was released on February 19, 2019, but was removed from Steam shortly afterwards on February 26, after a controversial Easter egg referencing Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, was found in the game. The game was re-released on March 15, 2021 on Red Candle Games' own digital store.

<i>Pathologic 2</i> 2019 video game

Pathologic 2 is a 2019 horror-themed role-playing game developed by Russian game development studio Ice-Pick Lodge and published by tinyBuild. Pathologic 2 was originally conceived of as a remake of the developer's earlier 2005 video game Pathologic, but during development grew to encompass a much greater scope. The game has variously been described as a remake, a reboot and a remaster, and draws elements from all three. Three storylines have been planned for the game, mirroring the stories of the Bachelor, Haruspex and Changeling from the original Pathologic. The game was released with the story of the Haruspex on 23 May 2019.

Songs of Conquest is a turn-based strategy game developed by Lavapotion and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. Inspired by 90s classics such as Heroes of Might and Magic III, the game was released in early access on May 10, 2022 for Microsoft Windows and macOS. It allows players to choose from four unique factions, expand their kingdoms, and wage battle by controlling powerful magicians called Wielders.
