ISSF shooting events

The International Shooting Sport Federation recognizes several shooting events, some of which have Olympic status. They are divided into four disciplines: rifle, pistol, shotgun and running target.

Kim Rhode American sport shooter

Kimberly Susan Rhode is an American double trap and skeet shooter. A California native, she is a six-time Olympic medal winner, including three gold medals, and six-time national champion in double trap. She is the most successful female shooter at the Olympics as the only triple Olympic Champion and the only woman to have won two Olympic gold medals for Double Trap. She won a gold medal in skeet shooting at the 2012 Summer Olympics, equaling the world record of 99 out of 100 clays. Most recently, she won the bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics, making her the first Olympian to win a medal on five different continents, the first Summer Olympian to win an individual medal at six consecutive summer games, and the first woman to medal in six consecutive Olympics.

Trap shooting is one of the three major disciplines of competitive clay pigeon shooting. The other disciplines are skeet shooting and sporting clays. They are distinguished roughly as follows, with variations within each group:

The ISSF World Shooting Championships are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation. World Shooting Championships began in 1897, after the successful 1896 Summer Olympics, and although the ISSF was not founded until 1907, these early competitions are still seen by the organization as the beginning of a continuous row of championships. By this logic, the 2006 competition in Zagreb was called the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships. These championships, including all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years since 1954. For the shotgun events only, there is an additional World Championship competition in odd-numbered years. These extra competitions are not numbered. In running target, there will be World Championships in Olympic years.

Giovanni Pellielo is an Italian sport shooter. He won the silver medal in Men's trap at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and also earned a bronze medal in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and a silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and 2016 Rio Olympics.

Yelena Anatolyevna Tkach is a Russian sport shooter. Representing the former Soviet Union, Tkach won a silver medal in the women's double trap at the 1991 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Perth, Australia, with a total score of 121 clay pigeons. She also defeated Lithuania's Daina Gudzinevičiūtė by one point for the gold medal in the women's trap at the 2002 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Lahti, Finland, accumulating a score of 93 targets. Tkach is also a member of the shooting team for Dynamo Voronezh, and is coached and trained by her teammate and two-time Olympian Maxim Kosarev.

Shooting competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were originally scheduled from 25 July to 3 August 2020, due to the postponement of the Summer Olympics to 2021, the rescheduled dates will be on 24 July to 2 August 2021 at the Asaka Shooting Range. Unlike in 2016, the number of shooters competing across fifteen different events at these Games has been reduced from 390 to 360, with an equal distribution between men and women. Furthermore, several significant changes were instituted in the Olympic shooting program, including the substitution of three male-only events, with the mixed team competitions. All dates referenced will be rescheduled due to postponement of Olympics until 2021.

Croatia at the 2016 Summer Olympics

Croatia competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's seventh consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics. The Croatian Olympic Committee confirmed a roster of 87 athletes, 68 men and 19 women, to compete across 18 sports at the Games.

Khaled Al-Mudhaf is a Kuwaiti sport shooter. He captured the men's trap title at the 2002 ISSF World Championships in Lahti, Finland, and finished in the top six respectively on two successive editions of the Olympic Games. Apart from his World championship title, Al-Mudhaf also collected fourteen more medals to his career record, including two from the Asian Games. Al-Mudhaf is a member of the Kuwait City Shooting Club, where he trains full-time under Russian-born coach Rustam Yambulatov.

The 2019 World Shotgun Championships were held from 30 June to 11 July 2019 in Lonato del Garda, Italy. As in all odd-numbered years, separate ISSF World Shooting Championships are held for trap, double trap and skeet events.

Yelena Rabaya nee Shishirina is a Russian former sport shooter who won several medals at senior level at the World Championships and European Championships.

The 2004 European Shooting Championships was the 50th edition, of the global shotgun competition, European Shotgun Championships, organised by the International Shooting Sport Federation.

Sándor Dóra was an Hungarian sport shooter who won 14 medals at individual senior level at the World Championships and European Championships.
