Il Nuovissimo Mondo (rough translation: The brand new world) is the second studio album by the Italian one man band Bologna Violenta of Nicola Manzan, released in 2010 by Bar La Muerte Records. [1] [2]

Italy republic in Southern Europe

Italy, officially the Italian Republic, is a country in Southern Europe. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, Italy shares open land borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and the enclaved microstates San Marino and Vatican City. Italy covers an area of 301,340 km2 (116,350 sq mi) and has a largely temperate seasonal and Mediterranean climate. With around 61 million inhabitants, it is the fourth-most populous EU member state and the most populous country in Southern Europe.

Bologna Violenta is a one man band musical project founded by Nicola Manzan in 2005.

The album is inspired by the "mondo-movies" such as the cult-documentary of the 60s Mondo Cane by Paolo Cavara, and is full of quotations (expressed through the dialogue) that refer to the cynical atmosphere of these "mondo-movies," while there are also parts (Blue Song), which makes reference to melody.

Cult Social group

In modern English, the term cult has come to usually refer to a social group defined by its unusual religious, spiritual, or philosophical beliefs, or its common interest in a particular personality, object or goal. This sense of the term is controversial and it has divergent definitions in both popular culture and academia and it also has been an ongoing source of contention among scholars across several fields of study. It is usually considered pejorative.

Paolo Cavara was an Italian screenwriter and a film director. He is known to horror film fans for directing the 1971 giallo, The Black Belly of the Tarantula, and for collaborating with Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco Prosperi on the 1962 mondo film Mondo Cane.

There are no real songs, but short compositions alternating moments with heavy distorted guitar riffs and spoken parts which talk about the cynicism and violence of modern man—massacres of children, violence against women, politicians' abuses—while remaining far from political or religious ideologies.

Guitar fretted string instrument

The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that usually has six strings. It is typically played with both hands by strumming or plucking the strings with either a guitar pick or the finger(s)/fingernails of one hand, while simultaneously fretting with the fingers of the other hand. The sound of the vibrating strings is projected either acoustically, by means of the hollow chamber of the guitar, or through an electrical amplifier and a speaker.

Cynicism is an attitude characterized by a general distrust of others' motives. A cynic may have a general lack of faith or hope in the human species or people motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification, materialism, goals, and opinions that a cynic perceives as vain, unobtainable, or ultimately meaningless and therefore deserving of ridicule or admonishment. Cynicism is often confused with skepticism, perhaps due to either inexperience or the belief that man is innately good. Thus, contemporary usage incorporates both a form of jaded prudence and realistic criticism or skepticism. The term originally derives from the ancient Greek philosophers, the Cynics, who rejected all conventions, whether of religion, manners, housing, dress, or decency, instead advocating the pursuit of virtue in accordance with a simple and idealistic way of life.

Violence use of physical force or power with the intent to inflict harm, possibly resulting in injury or death

Violence is "the use of physical force so as to injure, abuse, damage, or destroy." Less conventional definitions are also used, such as the World Health Organization's definition of violence as "the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation."

After the release of Il Nuovissimo Mondo, Bologna Violenta went on a two-year tour which included one hundred and thirty dates, not only in Italy but also abroad. [3] [4] [5]

The cover art shows a typical Italian version of an obituary, in which is depicted Nicola Manzan himself.

Cover art artwork on the outside of a published product

Cover art is a type of artwork presented as an illustration or photograph on the outside of a published product such as a book, magazine, newspaper (tabloid), comic book, video game, DVD, CD, videotape, or music album. The art has a primarily commercial function, for instance to promote the product it is displayed on, but can also have an aesthetic function, and may be artistically connected to the product, such as with art by the creator of the product.

Obituary short biography of someone who recently died

An obituary is a news article that reports the recent death of a person, typically along with an account of the person's life and information about the upcoming funeral. In large cities and larger newspapers, obituaries are written only for people considered significant. In local newspapers, an obituary may be published for any local resident upon death. A necrology is a register or list of records of the deaths of people related to a particular organization, group or field, which may only contain the sparsest details, or small obituaries. Historical necrologies can be important sources of information.
