Inbornmedia is a Polish TV production company based in Warsaw launched in 2005, which produces more than 100 hours of TV content per year for local broadcasters such as Polsat, TVN, TVP, and international players such as Discovery Networks, BBC, Viasat World, etc. Amongst others, the company created 13 seasons of Złomowisko PL (Eng. Scrappers) – the most successful TV series in the history of Discovery Channel Polska. [1] It has also created the first series for BBC, produced in Poland for the Polish audience, Spakowane Życie (Eng. Packed Up Life). [2]

History

Inbornmedia has recently established an international arm to focus on global production. The result is the signing of a distribution agreement with Off the Fence for the film The Gorals. Highlanders of Carpatnia [3] [4] and 5G. The speed of wave [5] [6] sold to France 5, Rai, Red Bull TV, Sky Germany, Al Jazeera, and Netflix, amongst others. Another significant production intended for the international market is the TV series Auschwitz in 33 objects on tragic events behind WWII, which was also included in the Off the Fence catalog. [7]

In 2022, Inbornmedia, together with the British producer Woodcut International, produced a 4-episode series about the Polish Underground State entitled Underground Army for the Viasat World's History channel. [8] [9] Subsequently, the company completed the production of other titles, such as the film Chopin. I am not afraid of the darkness, which was awarded at the 59th Golden Prague International Festival, [10] [11] [12] and received a distinction for the best documentary film at the Seattle Polish Film Festival. Telewizja Polska S.A., also known in English as Polish Television, is a public service broadcaster in Poland, founded in 1952. It is the oldest and largest Polish television network. After 2015, when the right-wing populist Law and Justice (PiS) party won the Polish parliamentary election, TVP progressively aligned with the speaking points of the PiS government. In the run-up to the 2023 Polish parliamentary election, TVP was designated as a "propaganda arm" of PiS by European media and as "a factory of hate" by the Polish opposition. However, after the electoral victory of the opposition party the Civic Platform in 2023, a newly-appointed Minister of Culture began a restructuring of the broadcaster and its news segment. On December 27, 2023, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, due to the President's veto on the financing of the company, placed it in liquidation.

Disco polo is a genre of popular dance music, created in Poland in the 1980s. It was initially known as sidewalk music or backyard music. This genre, a type of Polish urban folk music, had great popularity in the 1990s, peaking in 1995–1997, then gradually declining in popularity through the early 21st century. The genre then had a resurgence in the winter of 2007. The Polish PWN dictionary defines the genre as a Polish variant of disco music, with simple melodies and often ribald lyrics.

TVP Info is a Polish free-to-air television news channel, run by the public state broadcaster TVP. It is focused on newscasts, mainly broadcasting nationwide news bulletins. Until 20 December 2023, its main offices were located in the Television Information Agency building at Warsaw Insurgents Square; since 29 December 2023 the channel's activities are carried out from the main TVP building on Woronicza Street, Warsaw.

Television in Poland was introduced on an experimental basis in 1937. It was state owned, and was interrupted by the Second World War in 1939. Television returned to Poland in 1952 and for several decades was controlled by the communist government. Colour television was introduced in Poland in 1971. Private television stations in Poland appeared around the time of the fall of communism, with PTV Echo becoming the first private station in Poland.

Poland was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 with the song "To nie ja!", composed by Stanisław Syrewicz, with lyrics by Jacek Cygan, and performed by Edyta Górniak. The Polish participating broadcaster, Telewizja Polska (TVP), internally selected its entry for the contest. TVP initially selected Edyta Bartosiewicz to represent Poland, however, she refused and Edyta Górniak was ultimately selected. The song and performer were announced on 16 April 1994. This was the first-ever entry from Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest, and the first-ever entry performed in Polish in the contest.

Platige Image S.A. is a Polish-based company specializing in the creation of computer graphics, 3D animation, and digital special effects for various fields, including advertising, film, art, education, and entertainment. The studio employs a team of over 320 artists, comprising directors, art directors, graphic designers, and producers. The company has won approximately 280 awards and honors. Its animated shorts have garnered top prizes at SIGGRAPH four times and earned two British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards. Additionally, the studio has been nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Golden Lions at the Venice Film Festival, as well as receiving an Oscar nomination.

Polo TV is a Polish-language television channel, focusing mainly on music programming. Its owner is Telewizja Polsat. The station mainly plays disco polo and dance as well as folk, country, romani, muzyka biesiadna and foreign disco music. Aside from music broadcasting, the station also airs entertainment programmes and coverage of music events.

Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Color of Your Life" written by Andy Palmer and Kamil Varen. The song was performed by Michał Szpak. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) first announced in October 2015 that the Polish entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden would be selected through an internal selection. However, the broadcaster later decided to organise the national final Krajowe Eliminacje 2016 in order to select the Polish entry. The national final took place on 5 March 2016 and featured nine entries. "Color of Your Life" performed by Michał Szpak was selected as the winner after gaining 35.89% of the public vote.

TVN S.A. is a Polish media and entertainment group established in 1995 as TVN Sp. z o.o. The CEO of TVN Group is Katarzyna "Kasia" Kieli, president and managing director of TVN Warner Bros. Discovery. Its TV channel, TVN, is their flagship.

Poland participated in and won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 which took place on 25 November 2018 in Minsk, Belarus. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Roksana Węgiel was internally selected on 21 September 2018 as the Polish representative, competing with the song "Anyone I Want to Be". She won the contest with a total of 215 points.

Anita Gargas Wojciechowska is a Polish journalist specialising in investigative journalism and a mathematician by education. She is a journalist of the weekly Gazeta Polska and the daily Gazeta Polska Codziennie, where she is the head of the investigative section. From 1 August 2006 to 19 February 2010, she was a deputy director of the news desk and the vice-director for journalism at TVP1, and the author of the programme Misja specjalna.

Sara Zofia Egwu-James is a Polish singer and songwriter. She won the fourth series of the Polish talent show The Voice Kids and represented Poland at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021, in which she placed 2nd out of 19 entries, 6 points behind the Armenian representative, Maléna, who placed 1st.

Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with "River" performed by Ochman. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) first announced in September 2021 that the Polish entry for the 2022 contest would be chosen through an internal selection. However, the broadcaster later decided to organise the national final Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję! in order to select the Polish entry. The national final took place on 19 February 2022 and featured ten entries. "River" performed by Ochman was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from a five-member jury panel and a public vote over two rounds of voting.

Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with "Solo" performed by Blanka. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) organised the national final Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję! in order to select the Polish entry.
