Independence High School is a public, co-educational high school located in Bakersfield, California. Its athletics are known as the Independence Falcons and the school colors are maroon and silver. Independence High School had their first class in 2008, with the first graduating class in 2011. The first all four year graduating class graduated in 2012. The school is well known for hosting The Ready Set and Carly Rae Jepsen as a school spirit competition win from Kelly 95.3. It currently contains an approximate 1,900 of students and staff. [2]

Forrest Clare "Phog" Allen, D.O. was an American basketball coach and physician. Known as the "Father of Basketball Coaching," he served as the head basketball coach at Baker University (1905–1908), the University of Kansas, Haskell Institute—now Haskell Indian Nations University (1908–1909), and Warrensburg Teachers College—now the University of Central Missouri (1912–1919), compiling a career college basketball record of 746–264. In his 39 seasons at the helm of the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball program, his teams won 24 conference championships and three national titles.

Gonzalo Garza Independence High School is an alternative high school in the Austin Independent School District and is located at 1600 Chicon Street in Austin, Texas. It opened in January 1998 under then-principal Victoria Baldwin and is open to any student entering their third year of high school with 10 or more credits. Clear Horizons Early College High School is a public secondary school located in Houston, Texas, United States. In this program, {{citation needed span|an associate degree is completed simultaneously within the student's four years of high school. The program requires all its students to be on either the Distinguished Achievement Plan or the Distinguished Level of Achievement Plan. Students must take the highest level classes offered for each subject. Dual credit classes are semi-free for the students and therefore the school is known for helping economically disadvantaged students. Acceptance into the school is based on random name drawing of applicants via lottery system based on grades.
