The Indian Scout FTR750 is a competition-only motorcycle engine made by Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company for flat track racing. It is a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, four-valve-per-cylinder V-twin. [1] A single-pin crankshaft riding on plain bearings carries side-by-side steel connecting rods. [2] It is the first all-new flat track racing motor from Indian Motorcycle in decades.

On June 14, 2016 Jared Mees announced that he will join Indian as their flat track test rider. [3] On September 6, 2016, Joe Kopp was announced as the first rider to race the FTR750 at the upcoming Santa Rosa Mile in Santa Rosa, California on September 25, 2016. [4] The FTR750 is slated to be used in GNC1 competition in AMA Pro Flat Track racing full-time in 2017.

Indian markets the FTR1200 as a street-legal rendition of the FTR750. They have some appearance similarities including a steel trellis frame and trellis swingarm. [5]

AMA Superbike Championship

Harley-Davidson XR-750

The Harley-Davidson XR-750 is a racing motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson since 1970, primarily for dirt track racing, but also for road racing in the XRTT variant. The XR-750 was designed in response to a 1969 change in AMA Grand National Championship rules that leveled the playing field for makes other than Harley-Davidson, allowing Japanese and British motorcycles to outperform the previously dominant Harley-Davidson KR race bike. The XR-750 went on to win the most races in the history of American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) racing.

Gavin Trippe was a motorcycle racing promoter, journalist, and publisher who was inducted to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2005. He died following an automobile accident in California.

American Flat Track

American Flat Track is an American motorcycle racing series. The racing series, founded and sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in 1954, originally encompassed five distinct forms of competitions including mile dirt track races, half-mile, short-track, TT steeplechase and road races. The championship was the premier motorcycle racing series in the United States from the 1950s up until the late 1970s.

MotoAmerica North American Motorcycle Road Racing Organization

MotoAmerica is the organization that promotes the AMA Superbike Series since 2015. Jared Mees is an American professional dirt track motorcycle racer. He competes in the AMA Grand National Championship winning the GNC1 title in 2012, 2014, and 2015, the Grand National Twins Championship in 2009, and the Grand National Singles Championship in 2012.

Joe Kopp is an AMA Pro Flat Track Racer from United States who has competed in the Championship since 1993, winning the AMA Pro Grand National Championship in 2000.

Harley-Davidson KR

The Harley-Davidson KR or KR750 was a 45.125 cu in (739.47 cc) displacement V-twin engine racing motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson from 1953 through 1969 for flat track racing. It was also used in road racing in the KRTT faired version. When the KR was first introduced, it dominated motorcycle racing in the United States. In 1970 it was replaced by the long-lived and US race-winning Harley-Davidson XR-750.

GNC1 was the premier class in the 2015-16 AMA Grand National Championship for professional motorcycle flat track racing in the United States.

Indian FTR1200 American motorcycle

The Indian FTR1200 is an American motorcycle manufactured by Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company since 2019. The Indian Scout FTR750 flat track racing motorcycle is similar in appearance. The FTR1200 and its derivative, the FTR1200S, have been noted as having design cues from the sport of flat track racing, including the airbox location, dual exhaust pipes, lightweight appearance, in contradistinction to the usual American cruiser motorcycle, and "directly target[s] enthusiast riders who currently have traditionally favored the Ducati Monster, Triumph Speed Triple and BMW R nineT". The "sport" model FTR1200S has electronic stability control and wheelie control, with gyroscopic input to the ABS and other systems to make them lean sensitive.

BSA/Triumph racing triples

The BSA/Triumph racing triples were three cylinder 750 cc racing motorcycles manufactured by BSA/Triumph and raced with factory support from 1969-1974. There were road racing, production racing, endurance racing and flat track variants. The machines were based on the road-going BSA Rocket 3/Triumph Trident.
