The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 49th season of operation in 2023–24. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative for those who would not or did not make the roster of a team in the Major Junior Canadian Hockey League (CHL) nor Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas.
The Indiana Ice was a Tier I junior ice hockey team and member club of the United States Hockey League (USHL) that was formed in 2004 when the Danville Wings were purchased and moved from their location in Danville, Illinois, to Indianapolis, Indiana. The Ice captured the regular season division titles in the 2007–08 and 2013–14 seasons and won the 2009 and 2014 Clark Cup titles. Before the 2012–13 season, the Ice played their home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. From 2012 to 2014, the Ice split their home games between the Bankers Life Fieldhouse and the Pan American Arena. The Ice played in the Eastern Conference/Division of the United States Hockey League.
The Topeka Tarantulas were a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Topeka, Kansas. They were a member of the Central Hockey League and played their home games at Landon Arena. The team was established in 2004 when the Indianapolis Ice moved to Topeka from Indianapolis. The Tarantulas played one season and then folded.
The David S. Palmer Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Danville, Illinois, that has a seating capacity of 4,750 for concerts and 2,350 for sports. It was built in 1980. Palmer Arena is the home for the Eastern Illinois University ice hockey club. Along with team sports, the David S. Palmer has open ice skating and hosts concerts from time to time and U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program. The arena hosted the Vermilion County Bobcats of the Southern Professional Hockey League in the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons.
The Billings Bulls were a junior ice hockey organization based in Billings, Montana. They most recently played home games at the 550-seat Centennial Ice Arena and due to the arena's small size, the Bulls frequently sold-out games. They previously played their home games in the Metrapark which had a max capacity of 9,000 for hockey games. However, a negotiating dispute with arena officials and local county commissioners resulted in the team losing its lease.
The New York Apple Core are a Tier III Junior A ice hockey team from Brewster, New York, playing in the Eastern Hockey League. The team plays home games at the Brewster Ice Arena. The Apple Core organization is based out of Long Beach, New York, on Long Island, however, their top level junior team has played in Brewster since the start of the 2011–12 season.
The New Hampshire Junior Monarchs were a junior and youth ice hockey organization from Hooksett, New Hampshire, with teams in the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). Its highest level junior team played in the USPHL's National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC).
The Wooster Oilers were a junior ice hockey team and member of the United States Premier Hockey League 'Premier' level. The Oilers play home games at the Alice Noble Ice Arena in Wooster, Ohio.

The Motor City Chiefs were a Tier III ice hockey organization that played in the Central States Hockey League (CSHL) and Great Lakes Junior Hockey League (GLJHL). The team played their home games at the Canfield Ice Arena in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. The players, ages 16–20, carried amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hope to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, collegiate, and eventually professional teams. The Chiefs have also fielded select youth teams at the Squirt, Bantam, Midget Minor U16, and Midget Major U18 and girls program at the U12, U14, U16 levels as well as roller in-line hockey teams.
The Metro Jets are a non-sanctioned junior ice hockey team that plays their home games at Mount Clemens Ice Arena in Mount Clemens, Michigan. They are members of the Great Lakes Conference in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier Division. Players are ages 16–20, carry amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hope to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, Canadian major junior, collegiate, and eventually professional teams. The Jets won the 2002 USA Hockey Junior B Silver Cup national championship.
The Grand Rapids Owls was a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior A ice hockey team in the Central States Hockey League. The team played their home games at the Southside Community Ice Center in Byron Center, Michigan. The players, ages 16–20, carried amateur status under Junior A guidelines and hoped to earn a spot on higher levels of junior ice hockey in the United States and Canada, Canadian Major Junior, Collegiate, and eventually professional teams. The team suspended operations prior to the 2010-2011 season.
The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings were an American Tier II junior ice hockey team based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings began its inaugural season in 2011. The K-Wings played their home games at Wings West Arena, which seats 1,500. On November 4, 2010 the North American Hockey League approved of the K-Wings affiliation with the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings. This team was a different franchise than the previous Kalamazoo Jr. Wings team that eventually became the Danville Wings and eventually the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League.
The Danville Wings were a Tier I ice hockey team that played the North American Hockey League from 1994 until 2003 when they moved to the United States Hockey League for the 2003–04 season. After that season, the team was relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana and renamed the Indiana Ice. The Wings played their home games at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville, Illinois.
