The Indonesian Choice Award for Song of the Year is an honor presented at the Indonesian Choice Awards, a ceremony that was established in 2014 and originally of trophy called the Golden Thumb Awards. Awards in several categories are distributed annually by the NET. to "honor artistic achievement, without regard to album sales or chart position." Slank is an Indonesian rock band. It was founded in 1983 by teenagers in an alley street in Jakarta called Gang Potlot. Along with God Bless and Dewa 19, they are dubbed as one of the greatest rock bands in the history of Indonesian popular music. The name Slank was inspired by friends who often called them "slengean guys". Slank is an abbreviation of the word "slenge'an" and changes the letter G to K to make it look cooler. All personnel have compromised to agree on this naming. In making music, Slank voices his concern for music and the interests of all levels of society in Indonesia.

The Nickelodeon Indonesia Kids' Choice Awards was the Indonesian version of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, held since 2008 in Jakarta. Indonesia is the second country in Asia which organized this award, after the Philippines. The program is produced and aired by the Indonesian television station, Global TV.

Dilan 1990 is a 2018 Indonesian coming of age romantic drama film. It is based on the novel Dilan: Dia adalah Dilanku Tahun 1990 by Pidi Baiq. The film stars Iqbaal Ramadhan and Vanesha Prescilla as the main roles, with some high-profile names in supporting, minor, or cameo roles; Farhan, Happy Salma, Adhisty Zara of idol group JKT48, and Ridwan Kamil, the then-Mayor of Bandung. The film has been watched by 6.3 million people, and is the best-selling Indonesian film of 2018 and the second best-selling Indonesian film of all time, just behind Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss! The 39th Citra Awards, presented by Indonesian Film Board and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, honored the achievement in Indonesian cinema released from 1 October 2018 to 30 September 2019. The ceremony was held on 8 December 2019 at the Opus Ballroom, The Tribata, Jakarta, Indonesia, and presented by journalist Rory Asyari and announcer Melissa Karim.
