The Indonesia cricket team toured Japan in October 2022 to play a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) bilateral series at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Sano against hosts Japan. [1] Both sides played their first official T20I matches since the ICC announced that all matches between member nations would be eligible for this status. [2] [3] The series helped both teams prepare for the T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific sub-regional qualifier. [4]

Japan won the opening match of the series by 65 runs, in what was their first international fixture since December 2018. [5] The hosts secured the series with a 75-run victory in the second match. [6] Indonesia picked up a consolation 3-wicket win in the final match, which was their first T20I win. [7] Japan's Reo Sakurano-Thomas was named player of the series. [8]

The Japan national cricket team is the men's team that represents the country of Japan in international cricket. The team is organised by the Japan Cricket Association (JCA), which has been a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 1989. The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. It was played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. In the final, England beat Pakistan by five wickets to win their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup title and draw level with the West Indies, who also won 2 ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles in both the 2012 and the 2016 edition. Sam Curran was named the player of the match and also the player of the tournament.

The 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier EAP was a cricket tournament that was held in Vanuatu in May 2019. The matches in the tournament were played as Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to both the 2019 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier and the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournaments.

The 2022 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa. The finals tournament were originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but were moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.

The Indonesia women's cricket team toured the Philippines to play four Twenty20 International (T20I) matches from 21 to 22 December 2019. Originally the tour was scheduled to be a tri-series, but Bahrain withdrew prior to the series. The matches were played at the Friendship Oval ground at the Cavite campus in Emilio Aguinaldo College in the city of Dasmariñas.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier was a cricket tournament that was played as part of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It took place in November 2021 in Antigua, with the top two teams progressing to one of two global qualifiers. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The East Asia-Pacific qualifier tournament was hosted at the Vanuatu Cricket Ground from 1 to 8 September 2023, and the top team in the tournament progressed to the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier. The tournament was played as a single round-robin, featuring the national teams of Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Samoa.

The 2024 East Asia Cup was held in Hong Kong in February 2024, and was the third edition of Men's Twenty20 East Asia Cup. This was the first edition in which all of the matches had Twenty20 International (T20I) status. Japan won the previous edition in 2018. South Korea did not participate in this edition of the tournament.

Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming also simply known as Kendel Fleming is a Japanese cricketer and player agent who also serves as the current captain of the Japan national cricket team in international cricket. He plays club cricket for Chiba Sharks Cricket Club. He also works as a senior financial analyst at Vincents and he also apparently owns and runs a player management company in Japan.
