Institute for Politics and Society is a think-tank affiliated with Mayors and Independents. [3] It was founded on 21 December 2018. [1]
Institute was founded in December 2018. Senator Zdeněk Hraba was elected its first Chairman of institute's board. Other members include Dana Drábová, Michaela Matoušková and Věslav Michalik. [4] Barbora Urbanová became chairwoman of the institute in 2019. [5] As of January 2021 it held 5 conferences. [1] On 15 June 2021 it held its fifth conference called "Safe Country-Attractive Partner." [6] [7]
KDU-ČSL, often shortened to lidovci, is a Christian-democratic political party in the Czech Republic. The party has taken part in almost every Czech government since 1990. In the June 2006 legislative election, the party won 7.2% of the vote and 13 out of 200 seats; but in the 2010 election, its vote share dropped to 4.4% and they lost all of its seats. The party regained its parliamentary standing in the 2013 legislative election, winning 14 seats in the new parliament, thereby becoming the first party ever to return to the Chamber of Deputies after previously dropping out.
The Mayors and Independents, abbreviated to STAN, is a liberal to liberal conservative political party in the Czech Republic that is focused on localism, regionalism and subsidiarity. The party grew out of four minor parties, including Independent Mayors for the Region, which allied itself with the liberal-conservative SNK European Democrats, and cooperated with the similarly liberal-conservative TOP 09 until 2016. It holds 33 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and is the third strongest party by number of seats following the 2021 election.

Petr Fiala is a Czech politician and political scientist who has been the prime minister of the Czech Republic since November 2021 and leader of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) since 2014. He previously served as the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports from 2012 to 2013. Prior to entering politics, he was the rector of Masaryk University.
Legislative elections were held in the Czech Republic on 8 and 9 October 2021. All 200 members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected, with the leader of the resulting government to become the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic. Following the 2017 Czech legislative election, the country had been ruled by a minority government consisting of ANO 2011 (ANO), led by prime minister Andrej Babiš, and the Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD), led by interior minister Jan Hamáček, with confidence and supply support from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) until April 2021. The largest opposition party was the Civic Democratic Party (ODS), followed by the Czech Pirate Party. Other parties in the Chamber of Deputies included SPD, TOP 09, STAN, and KDU-ČSL.
Václav Klaus Jr. is a Czech teacher and politician. He was a member of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) until his expulsion in March 2019. Klaus was a Member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) from 2017 to 2021.

A leadership election for the Mayors and Independents (STAN) in 2017 was held on 25 March 2017. The incumbent leader Petr Gazdík was the only candidate. Gazdík received 135 of 145 votes and was elected for another term.

Vít Rakušan is a Czech pedagogue and politician who has served as the leader of the Mayors and Independents (STAN) political party since 2019 and its 1st vice-chairman from 2016 to 2019. He has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since October 2017; an elected representative of the Central Bohemia Region since 2012, and was the mayor of the City of Kolín from 2010 to 2019. In 2021, he assumed the posts of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of Petr Fiala.

Operation Dozimetr is a name of Police operation in June 2022 related to investigation of corruption at Prague City Hall linked primarily to Transport Enterprises of the Capital City of Prague (DPP). After more than two years of monitoring, the Police of the Czech Republic carried out a mass raid on the Prague City Hall, at the headquarters of the Transport Enterprises of the Capital City of Prague and at dozens of other places. Eleven of the thirteen defendants were arrested including the then Deputy Mayor of Prague Petr Hlubuček a member of Mayors and Independents or the influential Zlín businessman Michal Redl who is the alleged head of the group. The Group was accused, for example, for influencing the public contracts of the Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague (DPP), bribery and efforts to divest assets from DPP and other institutions.
