The Inter County Football League was formed in 1904 in Scotland as one of several supplementary football leagues that were created in order to increase the number of fixtures for Scottish Football League clubs. Member clubs included Abercorn (1904–1906), Albion Rovers (1904–1906), Arthurlie (1904–1905), Ayr (1904–1906) and Vale of Leven (1905–1906).

The competition was re-formed in 1916–17 with Albion Rovers, Dumbarton Harp, Queen's Park Strollers XI, Renton and Stevenston United. Dykehead, Royal Albert and Wishaw Thistle all resigned.

Peter Somers Scottish footballer

Peter Somers was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward for Celtic, Blackburn Rovers, Hamilton Academical and Scotland. Somers also played for the Scottish Football League XI three times. After retiring as a player, Somers became a director of Hamilton Academical.

Joseph Arthur Hulme was an English footballer who scored 12 goals from 29 appearances in the Football League playing for Lincoln City. He also played in the Southern League for Gravesend United, Bristol Rovers and Brighton & Hove Albion, and in the Midland League for Wellingborough. He began his career as an inside right, and in later years played at right back.

Joseph O'Brien was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a full back in the Football League for Blackburn Rovers, in the Northern League for Aberdeen, and in the Southern League for Reading, Swindon Town and Brighton & Hove Albion. While a Reading player, he was selected for the Southern League representative XI.
