International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT) is located at Manesar in Gurugram district of Haryana state of India. The Rs 1100 crore facility has facilities for vehicle homologation and also testing laboratories for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) and passive safety. It also includes a powertrain laboratory, engine dynamometers, emission laboratory with Euro-V capability, a fatigue laboratory, passive safety laboratory, and vehicle test tracks. iCAT is also being developed as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for component development and NVH.

Tests and approvals of vehicles and their components are conducted under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) – Rule No. 126 for which iCAT is accredited for. iCAT also has permission by BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) for tests on wheels, tires and glass for BIS certification. iCAT is also accredited by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for testing and approval of generators. The Dunton Campus is a major automotive research and development facility located in Dunton Wayletts, Laindon, Essex, United Kingdom, which is owned and operated by Ford Motor Company. Ford Dunton houses the main design team of Ford of Europe alongside its Merkenich Technical Centre in Cologne, Germany. Global Automotive Research Center (GARC) is a unit under National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) housing the facilities for comprehensive testing services. GARC provides certification testing and R&D support to the automotive vehicle and component manufacturers in India. The GARC which is under construction is spread over 304 acres with combined office space and test labs at the SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre near Chennai at Oragadam. The center will have certification test facilities to conduct the performance testing of full range of automobile. The center will also have the center of excellence for Passive Safety, EMC and Automotive Infotronics.
