Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read was an Australian convicted criminal, gang member and author. Read wrote a series of semi-autobiographical fictional crime novels and children's books. The 2000 film Chopper is based on his life.

Christopher Noel Dorsey, better known by his stage name B.G., is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He began his music career signing to Cash Money Records in 1993 at the age of 12. Dorsey, alongside fellow rappers Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk, collectively formed the Hot Boys in 1997. B.G. released several solo albums for Cash Money, including the platinum-selling Chopper City in the Ghetto in 1999. In 2001, he resigned from Cash Money Records and created his own label, Chopper City Records.

Chopper City in the Ghetto is the fourth studio album by American rapper B.G. released April 20, 1999, on Cash Money Records and Universal. It spawned the top 40 hit "Bling Bling". The album contains production by Mannie Fresh and appearances by Baby, Big Tymers, Lil Wayne and Juvenile.
Sharkula is a Chicago-area rapper. His lyrics are known for being scatterbrained, discontinuous, free-associative, non-violent, apolitical and random. He is also known as a flâneur for promoting his music and shows via use of hand-made flyers and stickers scattered around vending boxes in Chicago, and street marketing often with phrases such as "Hey, you like Hip-Hop?". He has appeared on Chic-a-Go-Go and his album Martin Luther King Jr. Whopper With Cheese was voted by readers of The Chicago Reader as one of the 20 best albums of 2004.

Justice & Kaos are an Australian hip hop duo from Melbourne. Their debut release, the "Turn It On EP" was nominated for Best Urban Release at the 2007 ARIA Music Awards. The duo also won the "Best New Talent" at the Australian and New Zealand Urban Music Awards. Justice rose to prominence as the most prolific battle MC in Australian hiphop history, with victory at the 2004 Australian MC Battle for Supremacy and the 2005 Australia vs New Zealand MC Battle for Supremacy culminating in victory at the 2005 Scribble Jam MC Battle, making him the first non-American to do so. Justice & Kaos have supported acts such as Mobb Deep, Xzibit, Lloyd Banks, Tech N9ne, Atmosphere and Brother Ali on their respective Australian tours.

Their name is a direct reference to the definition of the word debaser, not to be confused with the popular song Debaser by the Pixies.

Those that rap in the style are known as choppers, and rapping in the style is sometimes referred to as chopping. The style is one of the major forms of Midwest hip hop, though by the early 2000s, it had spread to other parts of the United States including California and New York City, and it has spread around the world since.

Madman the Greatest is a British hip hop recording artist and music producer from Birmingham, who has gained notoriety for his underground remixes of classic records including titles by Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, which have polarised his reputation. He is the founder of Playaz Cliq Recordings, the label responsible for his original releases. Under his GR8-1 Music Lab production camp, he is also responsible for the mastering and engineering of all the label's recordings.
Brad Terrence Jordan, better known by his stage name Scarface, is an American rapper and record producer best known as a member of the Geto Boys, a hip-hop group from Houston, Texas. He grew up in Houston and is originally from the city's South Acres neighborhood. In 2012, The Source ranked him #16 on their list of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time, while About.com ranked him #6 on its list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987–2007).
