[1] Inuvil is a town in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka, about 5 miles north of the city of Jaffna. It is located on the Jaffna-Kangesanthurai road. This road divides the town into two parts East Inuvil and West Inuvil. Inuvil is bordered by Uduvil to the north, Urumbarai to the east, Kondavil to the south, and Sudumala to the west. The town is known for its tobacco production, full of small plantations for agriculture.
McLeod Hospital, a maternity hospital established by the American Mission, is the most famous. Until a few decades ago, people from many parts of the peninsula flocked to this clinic.
The town and the surrounding area have traditionally been populated by farmers. However, many have educated their children to be professionals. There are several people who have started their own business as well. The majority of the people are Tamils. The first revolutionary group (EROS) Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students formed by Eliyathamby Ratnasabapathy is from Inuvil.
Many residents have immigrated to Western countries. The Inuvil diaspora is present in Canada, England, France, Germany, Switzerland, United States, Australia, Norway and Sweden.
Most of them are Hindus Around 98–99% and follow Tamil Culture. There are many professional drummers who came from this village including famous Thadshanamoorthy. There is also a "Gurukulam" where most of the Hindu priests are educated here.

Inuvil Thiruvoor Ontriam - Canada is a non-profit Tamil organization created by the Inuvil diaspora living in Toronto started in the year 2000 to bring together all diaspora and their children for reunification in Toronto. Inuvil Thiruvoor Ontriam creates academic level Tamil language competitions, art shows, Bharata Natyam shows based on the Tamil culture and summer Barbecues yearly to bring gatherings of Tamil diaspora from Inuvil living in the province of Ontario. The organization creates charities to help with the war-torn development in Sri Lanka for orphanages, resettlement, and community development in Sri Lanka and Canada. Inuvil Thiruvoor Onrium keeps in touch with organizations like the National Council of Canadian Tamils and Canadian Tamil Congress to keep networked connections for its resources in charity and development projects in Sri Lanka. Inuvil Thiruvoor Ontriam plays an active role in the Tamil Canadians community living in the Greater Toronto Area, Brampton, Mississauga, Pickering, Ontario, Ajax, Ontario, Oshawa, Ontario and Whitby, Ontario.

The Tamil diaspora refers to descendants of the Tamil speaking immigrants who emigrated from their native lands in the southern Indian subcontinent to other parts of the world. They are found primarily in Malaysia, Arab states of the Persian Gulf, South Africa, North America, Western Europe, and Singapore. It can be divided into two main diasporic clusters, due to geographical, historical and cultural reasons, as Indian Tamil diaspora and Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora.
Alfred Thangarajah Duraiappah was a Sri Lankan lawyer who served as Mayor of Jaffna from 1970 until his assassination. He was also a Member of Parliament for Jaffna from 1960 to 1965. Duraiappah was killed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
The Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil is a Hindu temple, located in Nallur, Northern Province, Sri Lanka. The presiding deity is Murugan (Kartikeya) in the form of the divine spear vel in the sanctum, the primary shrine, and in other forms, namely, Shanmugar, Muthukumaraswami, Valli Kanthar with consorts Valli and Deivayanai, and Dandayuddhapani, sans consorts in secondary shrines in the temple.

Keerimalai Naguleswaram temple, historically known also as the Thirutambaleswaram Kovil of Keerimalai, is a famous Hindu temple in Keerimalai, located north of Jaffna, Northern Province, Sri Lanka in the suburb of Kankesanthurai. One of the oldest shrines of the region, it is the northernmost of the island's Pancha Ishwarams of Siva, venerated by Sri Lankan Tamil Hindus around the world from classical antiquity. Hindus believe its adjacent water tank, the Keerimalai Springs, to have curative properties, which irrigation studies attribute to high mineral content sourced from underground.
Koviyar is a Tamil caste found in Sri Lanka. They are traditional agriculturalists and temple workers but also included merchants, landowners and temple patrons. Kattavarayan as caste deity is observed by the Koviar. They are reputed as a ritually dominant caste and regarded as the "cousin" caste of the more numerical dominant caste, Sri Lankan Vellalar.

Nallur is also famous for being the historical capital of the old Jaffna Kingdom and birthplace of renowned philosopher and theologian, Arumuka Navalar.
Uduvil is an agricultural village of about 32.7 square kilometers situated along the KKS Road at about five miles to the North of Jaffna city, Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by the villages Chunnākam, Kandarōdai, Sanguvēli, Mānipāy, Suthumalai and Inuvil. KKS Road and Kaithady - Mānipāy Road intersect at Uduvil and the Junction is called 'Maruthanār Madam' Junction. The name 'Maruthanār Madam' came into use because of the public resting place (Madam) situated at the North - Western corner of the junction. The old building that still exists is not in use nowadays. Two main roads, the Kaithady - Mānipāy Road and the branching Dutch Road cut through the village. The fork point is called 'Uduvil Junction.' A cross road connects the Dutch Road and the Puttūr - Chankānai Road that passes through Chunnākam Junction. It is called Uduvil - Kandarōdai Road. The nearest town to Uduvil is Chunnākam.

Manipay or Maanippaai is an affluent town in the northern Jaffna District of Sri Lanka. The original name of Manipay is Periyapulam. It was a mission location when the American Ceylon Mission (ACM) came to Sri Lanka in the 19th century. Dr. Samuel Fisk Green founded the Green Memorial Hospital in 1864 in this village. It was also known as Manipai. There are number of schools in the village, some of which were founded by ACM. The 104-year-old Manipay Hindu College and the 53-year-old Manipay Hindu Ladies College, both High Schools, are prominent. The village also contains Hindu temples and churches. The Manipay Maruthady Pillaiyar Temple stands out.

Kopay is a Sri Lankan town about 4 km from the city of Jaffna along Point Pedro road. An agricultural town consisting mainly of vegetable farms, paddy fields and coconut gardens. The suburb Kopay has several scholars because of very strong schooling system. Arumuka Navalar established the school managed by Suwaminathan is famous for this. Arrival of Church Missionary Society (CMS) strengthened the educational system. Kopay Christian College is one of the oldest schools in Jaffna with 150 years of service remain unbeaten in producing quality scholars.

Dutch Tamils or Holland Tamils are people of ethnic Tamil ancestry who reside in Netherlands. Around 20,000 Tamils mostly from Sri Lanka are estimated to be living in Netherlands. The relationship between Tamils and Dutch dates back to the colonial era. The Dutch East India Company was active in Sri Lanka and Southern India. In Sri Lanka, most of Tamil areas were under Dutch Ceylon rule between 1640–1796. During Dutch rule some Dutch loanwords were adopted in Sri Lankan Tamil language. Back then, Tamils and Malayalis were known as "Malabars" among the Portuguese and Dutch.
