Iradilson Sampaio de Souza (born 8 May 1952) is a Brazilian veterinarian and politician. He was the mayor of the city of Boa Vista,in the state of Roraima,from 2006 to 2012. [1] He had previously been the vice-mayor of Boa Vista mayor Teresa Surita,as well as a state deputy in Roraima. He is a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB).
Sampaio was born on 8 May 1952 in São Josédo Egito,Pernambuco. He is a veterinarian,graduating from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco. He moved to Roraima in 1976,when he was approved for public tender with the Associação de Crédito e Assistência Rural de Roraima (Acar-RR). He was first elected as a first substitute for Boa Vista's city council,implementing and coordinating the Centro Regional Sul (CRA/Sul) plan. He was elected to be state deputy three times. He was initially elected as vice-mayor for Surita,but later left the position. He would eventually return to office and became the city's mayor in 2006 after Surita resigned her seat to run for senator that year. [1] [2]
In 2016,Sampaio was arrested in the town of Cantá after driving into a car while drunk and threatening police officers,including pointing a gun at one of the officers. He was previously jailed in 2013 for administrative impropriety,in which he reached a settlement with the courts. [2]

Maria Teresa Saenz Surita is a Brazilian politician who is the mayor of Boa Vista,Roraima and a former Federal Deputy from 1990 to 1992 and from 2011 to 2012. Surita is dedicated to issues of social policy and human rights of children and adolescents.
The Brazilian municipal elections of 2012 took place on October 7 and on October 28. Over 138 million voters chose mayors,deputy mayors and city councillors for the 5,568 municipalities of Brazil. These were the first elections in which the recently registered parties Partido Pátria Livre (PPL) and Partido Social Democrático (PSD) participated;they were both recognized by the Superior Electoral Court in 2011. Political parties whose candidates wished to run for the 2012 elections had to be registered at the TSE for at least one year before the election date,while candidates also had to be affiliated to a party for the same period of time. Conventions for the selection of candidates within the parties occurred between 10 and 30 June,while the registry of candidates and alliances with the Regional Electoral Courts took place until July 5. Electoral campaign was authorized from the moment a candidacy had been registered. The free electoral program –two daily slots on free-to-air TV and radio for political advertising paid by the Electoral Justice fund –ran weekdays from 21 August until 4 October. According to the current Brazilian electoral law,the two-round system –should the leading candidate receive less than 50% +1 of the votes –is only available for cities with more than 200,000 voters. This includes all state capitals,with the exception of Boa Vista,Roraima and Palmas,Tocantins,plus 59 other municipalities. The free electoral program for the second round ran from 13 October until 26 October.

Francisco de Assis Rodrigues better known as Chico Rodrigues,is a federal senator of Brazil representing the state of Roraima. Although born in Pernambuco,he has spent his political career representing Roraima,and was previously governor from April 2014 to December 2014,vice-governor from 2011 to 2014,and also served in the chamber of deputies from 1991 to 2011.
