The Iranian Mathematical Society (IMS) [1] is the main mathematical society in Iran. [2] It was officially registered in 1971 by Professor Mehdi Behzad, who was the first president of IMS. The current president of IMS is Professor Mohammad Sal Moslehian.

Aims and Scops

The main goals of IMS are to promote education and research in mathematical sciences to the highest level of excellence as well as foster the awareness of mathematics and its connections to other basic sciences.

On 13 August 2014, Mirzakhani was honored with the Fields Medal, the most prestigious award in mathematics, becoming the first woman to win the prize, as well as the first Iranian. The award committee cited her work in "the dynamics and geometry of Riemann surfaces and their moduli spaces".

He is also professor of Applied Math & Computational Science Graduate Group, and associate scholar at the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Informatics, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. In 2008 Tony Cai was awarded the COPSS Presidents' Award.

Mehdi Behzad is an Iranian mathematician specializing in graph theory. He introduced his total coloring theory during his Ph.D. studies in 1965. Despite the active work during the last 50 years this conjecture remains as challenging as it is open. In fact, Behzad's conjecture now belongs to mathematics’ classic open problems.

The Calcutta Mathematical Society (CalMathSoc) is an association of professional mathematicians dedicated to the interests of mathematical research and education in India. The Society has its head office located at Kolkata, India.

Indian Mathematical Society (IMS) is the oldest organization in India devoted to the promotion of study and research in mathematics. The Society was founded in April 1907 by V. Ramaswami Aiyar with its headquarters at Pune. The Society started its activities under the tentatively proposed name Analytic Club and the name was soon changed to Indian Mathematical Club. After the adoption of a new constitution in 1910, the society acquired its present name, namely, the Indian Mathematical Society. The first president of the Society was B. Hanumantha Rao.

Hamid Naderi Yeganeh is an Iranian mathematical artist and digital artist. He is known for using mathematical formulas to create drawings of real-life objects, intricate and symmetrical illustrations, animations, fractals and tessellations. Naderi Yeganeh uses mathematics as the main tool to create artworks. Therefore, his artworks can be totally described by mathematical concepts. Mathematical concepts he uses in his work include trigonometric functions, exponential function, Fibonacci sequence, sawtooth wave, etc.

Neena Gupta is a professor at the Statistics and Mathematics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata. Her primary fields of interest are commutative algebra and affine algebraic geometry.

The Iran Pen Society is an Iranian association of writers, formed in 1998 by some activists in the field of writing, but officially began operating after obtaining a legal license from Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance on 27 May 1999. The Iran Pen Society is the only official legal association of litterateurs whose members include poets, writers, critics, translators, researchers and thinkers in the humanities. The association is not affiliated with any political, religious or governmental party, group, organization, domestic or foreign. The Iran Pen Society has about 200 members.

Ali Akbar Moosavi-Movahedi is an Iranian Biophysicist, and Biophysical Chemist at the Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, University of Tehran. He is the founder of the Iran Society of Biophysical ChemistryArchived 2014-09-04 at the Wayback Machine. He is the fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), fellow of Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), and a member of the Islamic Republic of Iran Academy of Sciences.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mohammad Sal Moslehian</span> Iranian mathematician (born 1966)

Mohammad Sal Moslehian is an Iranian mathematician and a professor of mathematics at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. He is the President of the Iranian Mathematical Society for the period of 2021-2024 and an invited member of the Iranian Academy of Sciences. His Erdős number is 3. He is known for his contribution to the operator and norm inequality. He has developed the orthogonality in Hilbert C*-modules and has significant contributions to operator means. He established noncommutative versions of martingale and maximum inequalities that play an essential role in noncommutative probability spaces. In addition, he has written several expository papers discussing research and education, as well as promoting mathematics.

Tony O'Farrell is an Irish mathematician who is Professor Emeritus at Maynooth University. He has been in the Mathematics and Statistics Department there since 1975.
